O "t1 on ego i WHEREAS, Council Member Richard C. Newkirk passed from this life on
March Z5, 1986; and,
WHEREAS, Council Member Newkirk was a Civil Service Board member
from Z959 to 2975, a member of the City Council since his election in April,
Z975 through the time of his death, during which time he served as mayor and
as interim mayor in addition to service on numerous city and regional boards,
y..:. and,
WHEREAS, Council Member Newkirk's unfailing dedication to the
duties of City Council and his strong leadership during his 27 years of ser-
vice to the City of Fort Worth have made our community one of the greatest
places in the world to live; and, ,
WHEREAS Council Member Newkirk had a strong love for not only his

city, but also for his family, his friends and the citizens of Fort Worth-.
NOW THEREFORE
r?r' ti it "4 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS,
on March Z8, Z986,
w That the family of Council Member Richard C. Newkirk be given the

condolences of the City of Fort Worth as it shares with them the grief result-
ing from the loss of a deeply respected council member and an outstanding
citizen of Fort Worth.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this memorial resolution be
spread upon the minutes of the City Council and that a copy be furnished to
he family of Council Member Richard C. Newkirk as an expression by the City
Council members o theirsympathy.
