HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1175A Resolution `'WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth has applied for and received a Federal Economic Development Administration Grant for the purpose of renovating Rodeo Plaza (formerly known as North Commerce Street), between Exchange Avenue and Stockyards Boulevard, which was heretofore utilized as a public street right-of-way, into a public pedestrian walkway to enhance the Stockyards Area of Fort Worth and promote the overall economic development activities in said area; and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth is the owner in fee simple of the property located within the right-of-way of Rodeo Plaza, between Exchange Avenue and Stockyards Boulevard; and WHEREAS, the abutting property owners have consented to the physi- cal closure to vehicular traffic of Rodeo Plaza, between Exchange Avenue and Stockyards Boulevard, to convert said Rodeo Plaza into a pedestrian walkway; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: "IF gz? That the existing fifty (50) foot wide right-of-way for Rodeo Plaza (formerly known as North Commerce Street), between Exchange. avenue and Stockyards Boulevard, be physically closed by means of removable posts to general vehicular traffic in order to allow for the use of said Rodeo Plaza as a public pedestrian walkway. The City of Fort Worth shall retain title to the public property located within said Rodeo Plaza, as well as any and all easements for existing and prospective utilities, and shall also retain the right of access at all times for the purpose of allowing the use of said Rodeo Plaza for emergency vehicles of any character, and for the purpose of maintaining existing and prospective utility facilities located in said Rodeo Plaza. In addition, the City of Fort Worth reserves the right, at the sole discretion of the City Council, to reopen by resolution the aforesaid Rodeo Plaza to public vehicular travel at any time by directing removal of the aforesaid removable posts.
