RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Dorothea L. Leonhardt affected many facets of our
community through her generous and charitable gifts; and
WHEREAS, during the last four years of her lifetime she gave
over $4,000,000 to charities in the City of Fort Worth; and
WHEREAS, the Communities Foundation of Texas, Inc., proposes to
give to the Fort Worth Garden Club in the name of Dorothea L.
Leonhardt the sum of approximately $1,000,000 for the design,
construction, and furnishing of a lecture hall to be located in the
Botanic Garden; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth, which owns the Botanic Garden,
and which will benefit from the lecture hall, desires to acknowledge
the generosity of this gift by providing for the installation in the
lecture hall of a plaque designating that the lecture hall was made
possible through the gift of Dorothea L. Leonhardt and the
Communities Foundation of Texas, Inc.: NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
0 THE CITY OF FORT WORTH
That the City of Fort Worth hereby expresses its appreciation
of the gift to the Fort Worth Garden Club and to the citizens of
Fort Worth by the Communities Foundation of Texas, Inc., in the name
of Dorothea L. Leonhardt.
Be it further resolved that a plaque stating that the lecture
hall was made possible through the generous gift of Dorothea L.
Leonhardt and the Communities Foundation of Texas, Inc., will be
installed in the lecture hall at a location visible to all visitors,
and that said plaque shall remain therein throughout the life of the
building.
Be it further resolved that this Resolution be spread upon the
minutes of the City Council meeting of September 17, 1985, and that
a copy thereof be furnished to Communities Foundation of Texas, Inc.
