HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1093 urned TUESDAY, OCTOBER 15, 1985 by the Mayor, it prevailed unanimously On motion of Council Member Lancaster, seconded by Council Member Wetherby the City Council adjourned. 7EL ayor CITY COUNCIL MEETING OCTOBER 22, 1985 Council met All members present Invocation - Jane McDonald Pledge of Allegiance Approved minutes of 10-15-85 Adopted Resolution No 1093 in memorial to Mr Manuel Jara On the 22nd day of October, A D , 1985, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, met in regular session, with the following members and officers present, to-wit Mayor Bob Bolen; Mayor Pro tempore Bert C Williams, Council Members Louis J Zapata, William M Garrison, Russell Lancaster, Kathy Wetherby, Estil Vance Jr , Richard C Newkirk, and James A Bagsby; City Manager Douglas Harman; City Attorney Wade Adkins, City Secretary Ruth Alexander, with more than a quorum present, at which time the following business was transacted The invocation was given by The Reverend Jane McDonald, First Christian Church The Pledge of Allegiance was recited On motion of Mayor Pro tempore Williams, seconded by Council Member Zapata, the minutes of the regular meeting of October 15, 1985, were approved Council Member Wetherby introduced a resolution and made a motion that it be adopted The resolution was seconded by Council Member Zapata The resolution was read by the City Secretary The motion, carrying with it the adoption of said resolution, prevailed by the following votes AYES Mayor Bolen; Mayor Pro tempore Williams, Council Members Zapata, Garrison, Lancaster, Wetherby, Vance, Newkirk, and Bagsby NOES None ABSENT None Resolution No 1093 The resolution, as adopted, is as follows RESOLUTION NO 1093 WHEREAS, Mr Manuel Jara passed from this life on October 4, 1985, and, WHEREAS, Mr Jara's dedication to the improvement of society and his quiet, unfailing devotion to community service will have a lasting impact on this community of Fort Worth, and, WHEREAS, Mr Jara gave of himself unselfishly so that others might enjoy a better quality of life, and his untimely passing leaves a void in our lives NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 1985 That the family of Mr Manuel Jara be given the condolences of the City of Fort Worth as it shares with them the grief over the loss of a beloved and honored citizen of Fort Worth Adopted Resolution No 1094 in memorial to Or W V Bradshaw Resolution No 1094 Proclamation to Humane Society of North TX Presented the Technolog Achievement Special Mention from Public Technology Approved liability bondk BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this memorial resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City Council and that a copy be furnished to Mrs Jara as an expression by the City Council members of their sympathy Mayor Pro tempore Williams introduced a resolution and made a motion that it be adopted The motion was seconded by Council Member Wetherby The resolution was read by the City Secretary The motion, carrying with it the adoption of said resolution, prevailed by the following vote AYES Mayor Bolen, Mayor tempore Williams, Council Members Zapata, Garrison, Lancaster, Wetherby, Vance, Newkirk, and Bagsby NOES None ABSENT None The resolution, as adopted, is as follows RESOLUTION NO 1094 WHEREAS, Or W V Bradshaw passed from this life on October 1, 1985, and, WHEREAS, DR W V Bradshaw was medical director of the Public Health Department of the City of Fort Worth for 33 years, and, WHEREAS, Or Bradshaw's dedication and unfailing devotion to his profession, his government, his friends, and his family earned for him the deepest respect and admiration of all with whom he came in contact NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT' WORTH, TEXAS, That the family of Or W V Bradshaw be given the condolences of the City of Fort as it shares with them the grief over the loss of a deeply respected employee and an honored citizen of Fort Worth BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this memorial resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City Council and that a copy be furnished to the family of Or W V Bradshaw as an expression by the City Council members of their sympathy A proclamation on Humane Society of North Texas Week was presented to the Humane Society of North Texas A presentation of the Technology Achievement Special Mention from Public Technology, Inc , for "Xeriscape Program" was presented to Mrs Linda Nelson, representing the Water Works Department approved It was the consensus of the City Council that the following bonds be CEMENT BONDS Component Construction Corp Rony Duke Concrete Raymundo Gonzales DBA Gonzales Contractors Oliver Homes Construction, Inc Salvador & Mary Mendez Parris & Avery Construction Co W L Turner Construction Co CONTRACTOR'S BONDS L, & L Loncrete Lo Dennis Irrigation and Landscape, Inc L H Lacy Company ITINERANT VENDOR'S BONDS Transamerica Insurance Co Western Surety Western Surety Western Surety Western Surety Co Universal Surety of America Western Surety Western Surety Company National Surety Corporation The Fidelity & Casualty Co of New York A, A & A Oriental Rugs, Inc Peerless Insurance Company
