WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth is a home rule municipality located
in Tarrant County, Texas; and
WHEREAS, Lake Worth, Lake Benbrook and Eagle Mountain Lake repre-
sent major sources of drinking water for the citizens of
the City of Fort Worth; and
WHEREAS, significant growth and development are occurring within
the watersheds of Lake Worth, Lake Benbrook and Eagle
Mountain Lake; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Water Commission reviews all applications,
engineering plans, construction of wastewater treatment
plants, investigates complaints, receives self-monitoring
reports, and is responsible for approval or denial of
permits for the discharge of wastewater effluent; and
WHEREAS, numerous permits authorizing the discharge of -,wastewater
effluent into Lake Worth, Lake Benbrook and Eagle Mountain
Lake have been previously approved; and
WHEREAS, numerous permit requests to discharge wastewater effluent
into Lake Worth, Lake Benbrook and Eagle Mountain Lake are
presently pending before the Texas Water Commission; and
WHEREAS, it has been many years since any water quality study has
been performed on Lake Worth, Lake Benbrook or Eagle
Mountain Lake;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED
that it opposes the approval of any
of wastewater effluent into Lake
Mountain Lake until a water quality
have been performed on said Lakes;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Secretary forward
copies of this resolution to the Texas Water Commission and to the
Tarrant County Legislative Delegation.
