HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1056i WHEREAS, the Texas Library Association at its annual convention in Dallas on April 24, 1985, named Ms. Linda Allmand, Director of the Fort Worth Public Library, "Librarian of the Year" in Texas for "contributions toward improved library service and distinguished service to the profession", and, A Resolution WHEREAS, the Texas Library Association gave its "Library Project of the Year Award" to the Fort Worth Library Advisory Board for its series of thirteen public education meetings held throughout the city during the spring of 1984 to discuss "Your Library Goes Public - Its Future is Yours"; and, WHEREAS, the Texas Library Association presented its "1985 TLA Philanthropic Award" to the Amon G. Carter Foundation for its generosity in awarding the Fort Worth. Library a $600,000 matching grant to update its anti- quated manual circulation and acquisition systems; and, WHEREAS, the Fort Worth City Council joins the Texas Library Association in recognizing the outstanding contributions of the Carter Foundation and the Friends of the Library in making theautomati on project a reality, of the Library Advisory Board for its valuable volunteer steward- ship, and of the Library Director and her entire staff for their continuing commitment to serving the information needs of all our residents; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS that May 6, 1985 be designated as "FORT WORTH PUBLIC LIBRARY RECOGNITION DAY."
