DISCUSSION: This project consists of street reconstruction and water and sanitary sewer replacement on College Avenue, Lipscomb Street, Orange Street, and Wayside Avenue. The street reconstruction work is funded by the 2004 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). During the construction of the Lipscomb Street and West Capps Street intersection, the contractor uncovered a damaged pipe under the roadway that provides drainage for a ditch adjacent to the railroad tracks. The pipe had collapsed in a number of places causing damage to the existing roadway. Also, it was discovered that the pipe had been reduced in size at the discharge end thereby causing the storm water to back up at the pipe inlet. The replacement of this drainage pipe was not part of the original design scope. The replacement of this collapsed facility is essential for providing structural support for the new roadway pavement as well as the adequate drainage of the street intersection. Amendment No. 7 provides the following: Additional design of the Lipscomb Street and Capps Street intersection. Design of storm drain and drainage ditch grading at the Lipscomb Avenue railroad crossing. Traffic Control Detour at the Lipscomb Street railroad crossing. On September 26, 2006, (M&C C-21712) City Council authorized the City Manager to execute an Engineering Agreement with Dunaway Associates, L.P., in the amount of $208,357.00 for design services connected with the street reconstruction and water and sanitary sewer main replacement on the street locations listed above. mhtml:file://C:Documents and SettingsArgomaR\My Documents\2004 CIP\CONTRACT 53\M... 10/28/2011 M&C Review Page 2 of 2 The Agreement was previously amended to provide additional services not included in the original contract as follows: Amendment No. 1 $15,510.00 Geotechnical Services Amendment No. 2 $ 4,440.00 Additional Storm Drain Desi n Amendment No. 3 $10,570.00 Additional Water Lines Amendment No. 4 $24,750.00 Additional Design in Railroad ROW and Railroad Permit Amendment No. 5 $ 8,000.00 Median Barriers in Railroad ROW and Realignment of Colle e Avenue Amendment No. 6$32,541.00 Draina e Desi n Additional Pavin in Ca s Street Dunaway Associates, L.P., proposes to pertorm tne necessary aesign worK ror a iump sum ree o $15,020.00.
