DISCUSSION: On March 26, 2002, (M&C C-19022) the City Council authorized the execution of an engineering agreement with Alan Plummer Associates, Inc., in the amount of $958,152.00 for the design of a wastewater diversion from Eagle Mountain lake drainage basin to the Big Fossil Creek Basin and the design of the Lake Worth South Shore Sewer System. Subsequent amendments, providing for additional engineering and design work associated with the Lake Worth Low Pressure Sewer System and the Turtle Creek 16 inch Water Main Extension increased the contract amount to $1,460,695.78. During the construction of the 16-inch water main to serve the Turtle Creek development, the water pressures along the south shore of Lake Worth were found to be much higher than originally anticipated. A review of the problem lead to the conclusion that in order to accommodate the increased pressures, individual pressure reducing valves (PRV's) needed to be installed at the houses along the south shore of Lake Worth and the existing PRV vault at Las Vegas Trail needed to be upgraded to better protect the Turtle Creek development. This design contract provides for the design of 150 individual residential PRV's, electrical and mechanical upgrades to the Las Vegas Trail PRV and vault, surveying and securing easements. The cost of the additional design work will not exceed $75,019.00. Alan Plummer is in compliance with the City's M/WBE Ordinance by committing to 15 percent M/WBE participation on this Amendment No. 7. The City's goal on this amendment is 16 percent. This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 7.
