APPOINTING NEW MEMBERS AND REAPPOINTING MEMBERS TO SERVE ON
THE MAYOR'S ADVISORY COMMISSION ON HOMELESSNESS
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth ( "City Council ") created
the Mayor's Advisory Commission on Homelessness ( "the Commission ") to act as an
advisory board to the City Staff and Council to better coordinate and planning how best to
respond to the issue of homelessness; and
WHEREAS, the Commission developed a homelessness plan, Directions Home:
Making Homelessness Rare, Short -term and Non - recurring in Fort Worth, Texas, Within
Ten Years ( "Directions Home ") for the City of Fort Worth ( "City "), which was adopted by
the City Council on June 17, 2008, by Resolution No. 3628 -06 -2008; and
WHEREAS, the Commission continues to meet to make such additional
recommendations as are necessary to further the goals of making homelessness in our
community rare, short -term and non - recurring and is required to report annually to the
City Council on progress in achieving the milestones established by Directions Home; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 16630, each member of the Commission
shall be appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Commission is comprised of 19 individuals including a balance of
representatives from neighborhoods, business and homeless service providers, as well as
persons with expertise on mental health, substance abuse, housing and other key issues
relevant to homelessness; and
WHEREAS, Places 8, 9, 10, and 16 need new appointments to the Commission to
replace members who have resigned; and
WHEREAS, Places 2, 4, 6, 12, 14, and 18 need members to be reappointed to the
Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Council hereby appoints the persons listed below to the Mayor's Advisory
Commission on Homelessness to serve at the pleasure of the City as members of the
Commission in the places listed adjacent to their names for terms beginning on the date of
adoption of this Resolution and expiring as indicated below:

Adopt Resolution Appointing New Members and Reappointing Members to Serve on the Mayor's Advisory
Commission on Homelessness (ALL COUNCIL DISTRICTS)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution appointing new members and
reappointing current members to serve on the Mayor's Advisory Commission on Homelessness.
DISCUSSION:
The Mayor's Advisory Commission on Homelessness (Commission) was created by Resolution No. 3203-
05 -2005 on May 17, 2005. On October 4, 2005, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 16630 -10 -2005,
which established guidelines for appointments to the Commission and set forth the Commission's duties
and responsibilities.
The Commission is comprised of 19 members who serve two -year terms and make recommendations to
the Council and City staff regarding policies, plans and methods for addressing homelessness. On June
17, 2008, the Council passed Resolution No. 3626 -06 -2008 adopting a plan entitled Directions Home:
Making Homelessness Rare, Short -term and Non - recurring in Fort Worth, Texas Within Ten Years
that was researched and developed by the Commission.
Commission members are appointed by the Mayor and Council.
The Mayor's Advisory Commission on Homelessness impacts ALL COUNCIL DISTRICTS.
