HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 17392-02-2007Ordinance No. 17392-02-2007 AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $30,000 FROM A TRANSFER FROM THE WATER AND SEWER FUND, FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING ONE SENIOR MAINTENANCE WORKER AT THE WATER CONSERVATION DEMONSTRATION GARDEN IN FORT WORTH'S BOTANIC GARDEN, MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2006- 2007 in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Trust Fund in the amount of $30,000 from a transfer from the Water and Sewer Fund for the purpose of funding one Senior Maintenance Worker at the Water Conservation Garden in Fort Worth's Botanic Garden. SECTION 2. That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 17142 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption. Authorize the City Manager to transfer $30,000 from the Water and Sewer Fund to the Special Trust Fund for the purpose of funding for a period of one year the salary and benefits of one Senior Maintenance Worker position at the Water Conservation Demonstration Garden in the Fort Worth Botanic Garden; and 2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Trust Fund by $30,000 for the funding of a Senior Maintenance Worker in the Water Conservation Demonstration Garden at Fort Worth Botanic Garden. DISCUSSION: Through an interlocal agreement, the Tarrant Regional Water District and the Water Department of the City of Fort Worth funded the construction of a Water Conservation Demonstration Garden at Fort Worth Botanic Garden. The purpose of the Water Conservation Demonstration Garden is to show water-efficient irrigation practices and exhibit green and lush water saving landscapes. Beginning in FY2003-2004, the Water Department entered into an ongoing maintenance agreement with the Parks and Community Services Department to provide funding for one position to maintain the Water Conservation Demonstration Garden at a cost of $30,000 per year. This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 7 and is a City-wide facility. FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION: The Finance Director certifies that upon approval and completion of the above recommendations and adoption of the attached appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated, of Special Trust Fund. The Parks and Community Services Department is responsible for collection and deposit of these funds.
