HomeMy WebLinkAboutContract 35038�'�R�TFiAC,�TE �R�' RENEWAL OF CITY SECRETARY CONTRACT NUMBER 30851 INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH FORT WORTH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT WHEREAS, on November 2, 2004, the City of Fort Worth, by and through its Assistant City Manager, entered in to a lease agreement with the Fort Worth Independent School District, the same being City Secretary Contract Number 30851; and WHEREAS, said Agreement provided that the City of Fort Worth would provide academic and cultural enrichment programs for students and family members; and WHEREAS, the primary Agreement term was from September 1, 2004 through August 31, 2005; and WHEREAS, the primary Agreement may be renewed for four (4) additional one- year terms by mutual consent of both parties; and WHEREAS, the Fort Worth Independent School District has given notice of its desire to renew and extend said Agreement for one (1) additional one-year term under the same terms and conditions; NOW, THEREFORE, City and the Fort Worth Independent School District agree to renew and extend the Agreement as follows: l. Section 3, "TERM", is hereby amended to read as follows: The second renewal term of this Agreement shall far a term of one (1) year, beginning on the 1 St day of September 2006 and terminating on the 31 S� day of August 2007. 2. Section 2, "FLJNDING", paragraph A is hereby amended as an addition to read as follows: FWISD agrees to pay the CITY for third year Sixty Six Thousand Nine Hundred Sixty Five Dollars and 00/100 ($66,965.00) each to fund the operation of the Community Learning Center Program at Rosemont Middle School and Daggett Middle School. DISCUSSION: On September 21, 2004, (M&C C-20287) City Council approved an Interlocal Agreement with Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) to provide academic enrichment programs and other activities designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic schedule of participating students, and to provide opportunities for literacy and related educational dev�lopment to families of those students. ihese programs are held at Ros�mont and Daggett Middle Schools. The program is funded by a grant to FWISD from the Texas Education Agency. The City will be reimbursed from the grant funds based on actual expenditures, not budgeted amounts. The agreement provides for one basic y�ar and four renewal options. The program was successful in th� first year and first renewal year of operation and FWISD has requested that we exercise the second renewal period of the contract which began on September 1, 2006, and will end on August 31, 2007. Future years appropriation will be appropriated in the Grants Fund during the Annual Budget. This program is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 9. FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION: The Finance Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendation, receipt of the executed options agreement, and adoption of the attach�d appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the current operating budget, as appropriated, in the Grants Fund.
