RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to exercise the second renewal of four
one-year options to renew the agreement with Concentra beginning October 1, 2006 and expiring September
30, 2007.
DISCUSSION:
On September 14, 2004, (M&C C-200266) the City Council authorized the City Manager to execute a
contract with Concentra to provide occupational healthcare services to the City of Fort Worth to treat
employees injured on the job. The City's most current contract term with Concentra began October 1, 2005
and expired September 30, 2006.
Concentra is one of the nations largest occupational healthcare providers and provides healthcare services to
the City for occupational injuries and non-occupational services to include drug screens, vaccinations,
Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals and pre-employment physicals.
It is anticipated that Concentra's cost for non-occupational healthcare services for Fiscal Year 2006-07 will be
approximately $189,000. Concentra is in compliance with the City's M/WBE Ordinance by committing to 10
percent M/WBE participation.
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION:
The Finance Director certifies that funds are available in the current operating budget, as appropriated, of the
Worker's Compensation Fund.
