City of Fort Worth Integrated Program Management 309 W. 7"'Street, Suite 1020 j Fort Worth,Texas 76102 Reference: City Project No. 00488 Hammond St. Drainage Improve. & Hopkins Ct. Flume Reconstruction Amendment No.2 I ( Mr. Simmons: This letter constitutes our request for supplemental authorization for tasks outside the scope of services of our current contract. The additional work includes the following tasks. Hammond Street Drainage Improvements 1. Additional Concept Engineering - At our November 18, 2010 review meeting, Dunaway was asked to evaluate the option of detention on both sides of IH-35W as a way to reduce the proposed storm drain conduit sizes, thus lowering overall project costs. In a subsequent telephone conversation with City staff to clarify the intent of the dual detention pond analysis, and due to the high anticipated cost of a detention facility at the used car dealership(Tri-Color Auto), Dunaway was asked to investigate detention at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church/Catholic Charities niocese of Fort Worth (Church) property west of Timothy Street rather than at Tri- Color Auto as a way to lower the peak flow. Dunaway was also requested to investigate an "in-street" detention option. This alternative involves construction of storage conduits (pipes or box culverts) to provide detention within the ROW of Hammond Street and side streets (Glacier and Vermont) near the intersection of Old Burleson Road. The following describes the anticipated tasks and our assumptions to provide these additional analyses. a. Detention Option at Church Property — Modify proposed storm drain hydraulic model to include detention on the Church property. The intent of the detention pond on Church property is to accept runoff from all areas contributing to the intersection of Timothy and Spurgeon Streets and release it at a lower peak flow rate into a system in Timothy Street, eventually connecting to the proposed storm drain system in Hammond Street. 650 Berkley Avenue.Suite 400 : F00 V10111%iexos 76107- lei:81 7.335.1121 —"' Fox:81 7.335.7437 _ dunowoyossoCioies.com Amendment No. 2 January 3, 2011 Page 2 i. The detention pond on the Church property would be constructed below grade. ii. A system of inlets and pipes would be needed to intercept the 100-year runoff at the intersection of Timothy and Spurgeon Streets and discharge into the detention pond on Church property. iii. An outlet pipe would be needed from the detention pond on Church property, east along Spurgeon Street, then north along Timothy Street to the proposed storm drain in Hammond Street. b. Investigate the possibility of providing detention storage in conduits beneath Hammond Street. 1. Determine the storage volume required to detain the peak 900-year storm water flow to the.capacity of the existing 2-54-inch pipes beneath IH35W. Detention storage beneath Hammond Street would consist of conduits such as box culverts to provide storage for reducing the peak outflow to the downstream storm drain system. ii. An alternative option for releasing the flow detained in the conduits beneath Hammond Street will consider an outlet pipe to be bored beneath IH35W and connected to the downstream storm drain system to determine if the storage conduits beneath Hammond Street can be installed below the existing sanitary sewer lines/services. c. Prepare a letter report summarizing the results of the evaluations for the options of detention at the Church property and beneath Hammond Street. The report shall include comparative opinions of probable construction costs for the two options and a recommendation regarding implementation of the two options. 2. Project Development -- Conduct up to two (2) project status meetings with CITY during the course of the detention analysis phase, These meetings shall be used to update CITY as to status of project and to determine CITY's preference in recommended improvement options. A summary of the total project is as follows; 1. Original Contract $ 119,461 2. Amendment#1 $76,055 3. Amendment#2 $ 16,340 TOTAL REVISED BUDGET $211,856 This scope of services does not include additional subsurface utility investigation or topographic surveying. Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions or require additional information regarding this proposal. Amendment No. 2 January 3, 2011 Page 3 Sincerely, DUNAWAY ASSOCIATES, L.P.
