HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 19952-10-2011Ordinance No. 19952-10-2011 AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,250.00, SUBJECT TO RECEIPT OF MONETARY SPONSORSHIPS FROM VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISION'S MOVIES THAT MATTER FILM SERIES; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2011 -2012 in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Trust Fund in the amount of $1,250.00, subject to receipt of monetary sponsorships in the amount of $500.00 from Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth, $250.00 from the Fort Worth Visitors and Conventions Bureau, and $500.00 from the Fort Worth Botanical Society, for the purpose of funding the Human Relations Commission's Movies That Matter film series. SECTION 2. That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 19911 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. Authorize acceptance of monetary sponsorships for the Human Relations Unit in the amount of $500.00 from Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth, $250.00 from the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau and $500.00 from the Fort Worth Botanical Society to support the operation and production of the Fort Worth Human Relations Commission's Movies That Matter film series; and 2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations by $1,250.00 from available funds in the Special Trust Fund. DISCUSSION: The funds received from Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Fort Worth Botanical Society were received as sponsorships as part of the Fort Worth Human Relations Commission's Movies That Matter film series. The intended use of the sponsorship funds are to support the operation and production of the Movies That Matter film screenings, which are produced on a quarterly basis. The Movies That Matter film series is an educational and outreach avenue that the Human Relations Unit and the Fort Worth Human Relations Commission have produced to educate Fort Worth residents about their civil rights and promote efforts to eliminate discrimination. FISCAL INFORMATION 1-CERTIFICATION: The Financial Management Services Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations and adoption of the attached appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the current Operating Budget, as appropriated, of the Special Trust Fund.
