AUTHORIZE APPLICATION FOR AND ACCEPTANCE, IF AWARDED, OF FISCAL
YEAR 2020 GRANTS FROM OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE
DIVISION, FOR GENERAL VICTIMS ASSISTANCE, STATE JUSTICE ASSISTANCE,
AND CHILD EXPLOITATION PREVENTION, INVESTIGATION, AND PROSECUTION;
AND MAKE ASSURANCES REQUIRED BY THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF
THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
WHEREAS, the Criminal Justice Division of the Texas Governor's Office (CJD) funds
law enforcement grant projects throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, February 28, 2019 is the deadline to submit application for the CJD Fiscal Year
2020 grants for the General Victims Assistance Program Grant; State Justice Assistance Grant; and
Preventing, Investigating, and Prosecuting the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children Grant; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth finds that it is in the best interest of the
citizens of Fort Worth to utilize grant funds from the CJD for the Fort Worth Police Department in
accordance with the permitted uses of the funds under the respective grants; and
WHEREAS, the CJD grant requirements include authorization of application by the
governing body of the applicant and passage of a Resolution by the City Council containing
certain assurances; and
WHEREAS, further council action will be required for the appropriation of funds for
these grants at a later date.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, THAT:
I . The City Council authorizes applications for, and acceptance, if awarded, of the following Fiscal Year
2020 grants from the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division: General Victims Assistance
Program Grant; State Justice Assistance Grant; and Preventing, Investigating, and Prosecuting the
Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children Grant;
2. The City Council designates the City Manager, through the Assistant City Manager for Police, to apply
for, accept, reject, alter or terminate each listed grant on behalf of the City;
3. If matching funds are required, the City assures that all matching funds will be provided; and
4. In the event of loss or misuse of the CJD grant funds, the City assures that the funds will be returned to
the CJD in full.
