Randol Mill Culveil Improvements
City Project No.00742
Mr. Owen:
This letter constitutes our request for supplemental authorization for tasks outside the scope
of services of our current contract. The additional work, requested at the October 14, 2010
coordination meeting, includes the following tasks:
1. Chancre in Culvert Configuration — Dunaway Associates was asked to revise the
construction drawings to reflect construction of only the south half (future eastbound
side) of the proposed culvert. Due to current budgetary considerations, the decision
was made to reduce the culvert length as a means to reduce the overall project cost.
2. Access Ramp—The City staff requested that Dunaway Associates include an access
ramp to the channel on the south side of Randol Mill Road to facilitate maintenance of
the Culvert (primarily debris removal),
3. Gabion_esian — Dunaway Associates was also asked to replace the rock riprap
erosion protection around the culvert headwalls with gabion erosion protection. The
use of gabions for erosion protection rather than rock riprap was requested based on
the preference of City staff of gabions over rock riprap.
4. Coordination Meeti%Ls — Dunaway Associates will attend up to two (2) additional
project coordination meetings to discuss the plan revisions associated with the
shortened culvert length.
These changes in the design will necessitate the following changes to the construction
drawings, which have been prepared to the 60% submittal level:
Update index of drawings.
o Revise the right-of-way and easement layout on all sheets (less ROW and
easement acquisition will be required on the north side of the ROW)
Delete the water line relocation plan and general notes (no longer required in this
phase)
9 Update key map and typical sections.

o Revise the culvert plan/profile drawing to reflect the shortened culvert length.

grading, and the gabion erosion protection.
