COUNCIL, ACTION: Approved on 3/6/2012 = Ordinance No. 20091 -03 -2012
DATE: Tuesday, March 06, 2012
LOG NAME: 060065030 SN- 012 -002
REFERENCE NO.: PZ -2969
SUBJECT:
Adopt Ordinance Changing the Name of a Portion of Blue Mound Road to Old Blue Mound Road Due to
the Realignment of FM 156 (COUNCIL DISTRICT 2)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached ordinance changing the name of a portion of
Blue Mound Road to Old Blue Mound Road due to the realignment of FM 156.
DISCUSSION:
Due to the realignment of FM 156 in the area of Alliance Airport, two parallel but separate segments of
rights -of -way hold the name Blue Mound Road. This has caused instances of confusion in providing
emergency services in the area. Adjacent jurisdictions have been contacted and will be making similar
adjustments. A map of the proposed street name change request has been attached as Exhibit A.
The Fire Department supports this street name change request.
The Transportation Public Works Department states the cost for changing and installing new street name
signs will be $735.00.
Pursuant to Texas state statute, a public hearing must precede the ordinance adoption of the proposed
change. Notice to adjacent property owners along both sides of the affected street was mailed on
February 14, 2012. A copy of the notice is attached as Exhibit B.
The proposed street name change is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 2.
