City of Fort Worth, Texas
Mayor and Council Communication
COUNCIL ACTION: Approved on 6/18/2019 -Ordinance No. 23691-06-2019
DATE: Tuesday, June 18, 2019 REFERENCE NO.: **G-19561
LOG NAME: 20WEST 7TH VILLAGE SIDEWALKS CONSTRUCTION FUNDING
SUBJECT:
Adopt an Appropriation Ordinance in the amount of$100,000.00 from 2008 Street Improvement Funds for
the West 7th Village Sidewalks Project (101554). (Council District 9)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Appropriation Ordinance increasing estimated
receipts and appropriations in the amount of$100,000.00, from available funds in the 2008 Street
Improvements Funds.
DISCUSSION:
The West 7th Village Sidewalks Project is a project currently in construction to fill sidewalk gaps in the very
active pedestrian area along Morton Street, Bledsoe Street, Norwood Street, Currie Street and Foch
Street. The project is currently funded with $750,000.00 of Urban Village 2014 Bond Funds and being
constructed by Fain Group's Unit Price Contract (M&C C-28388). The requested $100,000.00 will be
used for additional sidewalk construction in the area.
The West 7th Village Sidewalks Project is expected to be complete in July 2019. The City Council
previously found that the street improvement projects in Proposition One of the 2008 Bond Program were
substantially complete and authorized the re-programming of residual funds that had been identified up to
that point to other eligible projects (M&C G-18738). Since that time, more of the completed projects have
been balanced and closed and additional residuals have been identified. By approving this M&C and
adopting the attached ordinance, the City Council would be finding this project to be within the voted
purpose of the bonds and to constitute an eligible expenditure of these funds.
This project is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 9.
A Form 1295 is not required for this contract because: This M&C does not request approval of a contract
with a business entity.
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Finance certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations and adoption of the
attached appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the capital budget, as previously appropriated
of the 2014 Bond Fund and 2008 Street Improvements Fund.
