Provine Outfall Drainage Improvements
Subject Supplemental Authorization#3
From Greg Crews, PE
Date March 28,2011
AECOM was selected by the City of Fort Worth to prepare design plans to replace an existing storm
drain between Provine Street to Fosdic Lake. The existing pipeline is undersized and should be
upsized to increase the carrying capacity. The existing pipeline currently connects to a system on
Provine Street and outfalls into an existing 54-inch storm drain that connects to Fosdic Lake.
As authorized in SA#2, AECOM presented a revised conceptual design utilizing Other Than Open
Cut methods of construction. Additionally, recommendations on methods and materials required for
this type of installation were evaluated and presented within the Technical Memorandum submitted
January 24, 2011.
Subsequent to the City review of said Tech Memo a site meeting was held on March 4, 2011. The
result of this site visit was the direction that the existing alignment is to be abandoned. A new
alignment was determined that would allow open cut installation. AECOM is prepared to move
forward with the redesign to incorporate this newly identified alignment. The new alignment will
require efforts that are additional to the current contract including SA#1 & SA#2. The purpose of this
memorandum is to enumerate these additional efforts and to request additional services and fees.
This memorandum describes the tasks that are necessary for the revised design of the storm drain
that are considered additional effort to the original contract, SA#1 or SA#2. These tasks are provided
in detail below, the total fee to perform the work described below is $22,565. A total fee breakdown
associated with the tasks is shown in Attachment 1. Attachments 2 shows a breakdown of costs
associated with the additional surveying and SUE for the amended project alignment. Exhibit 1
shows the modified corridor as discussed in the March 4, 2011 site meeting.
Task 1.0 Project Management
• Task 1.1 &1.2 -Project Management—AECOM will provide on-going project management
throughout the project to coordinate components of the project with the City and with the
subconsultants. Part of the coordination will consist of AECOM preparing and submitting a
revised schedule in Microsoft Project. For the purposes of this SA#3 it is assumed that 3

additional months of project management efforts will be required(6 months total). This item
is accounted for in subtasks 1.1 & 1.2. The fee required to perform this task is$6,940.
• Task 1.3-Prepare Tech Memo on Other Than Open Cut(OTOC)—Under SA#2 AECOM
was to evaluate the installation of the storm drain by OTOC methods. The original SA#2
request contained scope and fee to prepare a tech memo on OTOC.This item was requested
to be removed from SA#2; AECOM removed this item as requested. Subsequent to the
approval of SA#2 it was requested that AECOM submit a Technical Memorandum on the
evaluation and recommendation of OTOC. Therefore, AECOM request that this additional
effort be included in the scope of SA#3. The total effort for this service is maintained as per
previous request and the required is$1,790.
Task 2.0—Preliminary Design (60%)
• Task 2.3-SUE Analysis—AECOM has retained a SUE-specialized firm for this analysis
which will be conducted for the alignment between Provine and the outfall. This work will
include a Level B SUE to locate the horizontal and vertical locations of the utilities. The fee
required by the SUE firm to perform this task is$5,000 (Attachment 2). The total fee to
provide this service is$5,895,which includes coordination efforts through AECOM.
• Task 2.4-Revise Storm Drain Alignment from Provine to Ederville—AECOM will revise
the proposed storm drain alignment from Provine to Ederville based on the amended
alignment as discussed during the field review meeting referenced above. A revised
alignment will be presented for approval prior to progressing the preliminary design for the
revised alignment. The deliverable for this phase of work will conform to the requirements of
the existing design scope. AECOM estimates that the additional fee required to perform this
task is$2,065.
Task 3.0—Final Design
Task 3 effort remains unchanged.
Task 4.0—Construction Phase Services
Task 4 effort remains unchanged.
Task 5.0—ROW/Easement Services
Task 5 effort remains unchanged.
Task 6.0—Survey
Task 6 consists of field investigations which will assist the design of the modified alignment. The
following items will be included in the field investigation:
• Task 6.1 —Design Survey—AECOM will retain its surveyor to obtain additional survey for
the realignment of the storm drain. This survey will include a detailed survey of revised
alignment from the existing connection point on Provine to the newly identified outfall
location, including trees, utilities, curbs, creek and 100-ft of a jogging path. The fee required
to perform this task is$5,200(Attachment 2). The total fee to provide this service is$5,805,.
which includes coordination efforts through AECOM
A=COM
Conclusion
The total fee to perform the work described above is$22,565, which includes 10%sub markup. As
previously mentioned, this fee breakdown is shown in Attachment 1. Attachment 2 shows a
breakdown of costs associated with the additional surveying and SUE for the project
AECOM is grateful for the opportunity to work with the City of Fort Worth and looks forward to
preparing design plans for this project. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Greg
