AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND
APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SPECIAL TRUST FUND IN THE AMOUNT
OF $2,500.00 FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE FORT WORTH
PUBLIC LIBRARY CHILDREN SUMMER READING CLUB; PROVIDING
FOR A CLAUSE; MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR
ORDINANCES AND REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH;AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH,TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
That in addition to those amounts allocated to the various City departments for the Fiscal Year 1992-93
and in the Budget of the City Manager, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations
in the Special Trust Fund in the amount of $2,500.00 for the purpose of funding the Fort Worth Public
Library Children Summer Reading Club.
SECTION 2.
Should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid, inoperative or void for
any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair
the remaining portions, sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions
shall be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3.
That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 11151 and all other ordinances and
appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in
direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said conflicting provisions
of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed.
SECTION 4.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage, and it
is so ordained.

SUBJECT I APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE FOR THE FORT WORTH PUBLIC LIBRARY/SUMMER READING CLUB

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council :
1. Adopt the attached appropriations ordinance increasing estimated receipts and
appropriations by $2,500.00 in the Special Trust Fund from increased revenues, and
2. Authorize the expenditure of $2,500.00 from the Special Trust Fund for the Fort
Worth Public Library Children Summer Reading Club.
DISCUSSION:
On December 15, 1992, M&C G-9972, granted approval to accept funds to underwrite the
1993 Children Summer Reading Club. The corporations from which donations were
solicited and received are: Dillard's, Kroger Company, Tom Thumb Stores, Pier I
Imports, Taylor's Books, Tarantula Corp. , Bombay Company, Mrs. Baird's Breads, Justin
Industries, Cash America, Wal-Mart and Michaels MJ Designs. These donors are
instrumental in helping the Library serve the anticipated youth enrollment for the
summer of 1993.
The Children Summer Reading Club has been a part of the Fort Worth Public Library for
several years. In 1983, the club began with 1,989 participants reading 33,168 books
and in 1992 ending the summer with 5,171 participants reading 100,278 books.
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION:
The Director of Fiscal Services certifies that upon adoption of the attached
appropriations ordinance funds required for the reading program above will be
available, as appropriated, in the operating budget of the Special Trust Fund.
The Fort Worth Public Library is responsible for the collection 0(Gf.d[R ity
for deposit into the Special Revenue Fund.
