Mrs. Lela Mae Williams and Mr. George A. Berry, owners of adjoining property,
have requested the abandonment of Illinois Avenue from the south right-of-way
line of East Leuda Street, south a distance of 100 feet, to an existing
east-west alley, as shown on the attached map. Abandonment of this section of
Illinois Avenue was requested to eliminate a short dead-fiend street, which now
servts no useful purpose.
The private utility companies and the Public Works, Water, Traffic Engineering,
and Planning Departments do not object to the closing, provided the electric
utility is reserved an easement for its existing facilities, and provided the
property owners construct standard curb and gutter across the portion of
Illinois Avenue requested for closing.
On April 21, 1965, the City Plan Commission reviewed the--request and
recommended City Council adoption of an ordinance which has been prepared
abandoning the street, subject to reserving an easement for Texas Electric
Service Company and construction of curb and gutter improvements by adjacent
property owners.
