With a quorum of the City Council members present, the Council boarded the train at
8:25 a.m. on July 17, 2008, at the Intermodal Transportation Center, located at 9th and Jones
Streets, Fort Worth, Texas, to begin their trip to Union Station in Dallas, Texas.
Mayor Moncrief provided a welcome to everyone traveling on this tour. He introduced
Bob Parmelee, the T Board Chair and Study Committee Member. He provided an overview of
the Trinity Rail Express (TRE) and the Southwest to Northeast (SW2NE) Regional Rail Project.
Cinde Gilliland, Regional Transportation Coordinator for the City of Fort Worth, then provided
an overview of the travel day's agenda. Dick Ruddell, Executive Director and Nancy Amos,
Senior Vice President of the TRE, spoke in more detail about The T's involvement in the TRE,
the SW2NE project and gave a brief history of the TRE. Bill Farquhar, Chief Operating Officer,
described the THE operations and the current planned improvement projects.
The train arrived at Union Station, 401 S. Houston Street, Dallas, Texas, at 9:25 a.m.
Staff assisted the Council with transferring to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Light Rail
Train. Once aboard, the Council traveled north to Mockingbird Rail Station, 5465 E.
Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, Texas, and arrived at 9:55 a.m.
Upon arriving at Mockingbird Rail Station, the Council gathered at the Angelika Movie
Theatre and was then given a tour of the urban mixed used development area by Ken Hughes,
with Hughes Development, LP, who was its master developer.

At 10:30 a.m., the Council gathered at the Trinity Hall Restaurant and was welcomed by
Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert. A PowerPoint presentation on Mockingbird Station was given by
Ken Hughes. Dallas Area Rapid Transit's Board Chair Randall Crisman and Executive
Director/CEO Gary Thomas also welcomed the group and provided an overview of DART's rail
program. Mr. Thomas introduced DART Vice President Jay Kline who made a presentation on
the streetcar planning underway in Dallas.
The Council took a break for lunch at 11:35 a.m.
At 12:35 p.m., the Council left Trinity Hall Restaurant and gathered at the light rail train
platform to get on the train to travel south back to the Union Station. The Council arrived at
Union Station at 1:02 p.m. The Council then departed Union Station on the THE and arrived
back at the Intermodal Transportation Center at 2:28 p.m.
The train tour was completed at 2:28 p.m.
These minutes approved by the Fort Worth City Council on the 29th day of July, 2008.
