HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 1776 ORDINANCE M34 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT AN APPLICATION BE PREPARED AND FILED WITH THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE FEDERAL EMGENCY ADMINISTRATION OF PUBLIC WORKS FOR A GRANT AND LOAN OF ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND ($150,000.00) DOLLARS FOR THE PURPOSE OF WIDENING, STRAIGHTENING, X=DING, PAVING AND OTE RWISE IMPROVING VICKERY BOULEVARD IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, FRCV THE SOUTH LINE OF IESSIE STREET TO THE WEST LINE OF JONES STREET, A TOTAL DISTANCE OF FORTY- SEVEN HUNDRED (4,700) FEET. WF , the City Council of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, after considerable deliberation following many conferences and with the assistance and co-operation of the City Plan Commission and various civic organizations, entered into a very comprehensive improvement and construction program relative to its streets and thoroughfares; and, WHEREAS, the resident qualified taxpaying voters of the city, by a vote of three thousand, six hundred and forty-eight (3,648) to five hundred and seventy-three (573), authorized the issuance of Two Million (#&,OGA,960.40) Dollars worth of general street improvement bonds; and, WEEREAS, One Million, Five Hundred Thousand ($1,500,000.00) Dollars worth of said bonds, being Series #56, have heretofore been issued and there are now Five Hundred Thousand (0500,000.00) Dollars worth of said bonds unissued; and, WHEREAS, two applications have heretofore been made for grants and loans in the total sum of Two Hundred and Four Thousand, Seven Hundred ($204,700.00) Dollars, for the purpose of constructing oEerpasses over the tracks of the Texas and Pacific Railway Company and the Fort Worth and Rio Grande Railway Company, and bonds out of the above described series have been offered to secure said grants and loans; and, WFOREAS, it is now deemed wise and expedient that Vickery boulevard be widened, straightened, extended, and otherwise improved in a northwesterly direction twenty-three hundred (2,300) feet across certain lots and Blocks of the city, at a width of eighty (80) feet to a connection with Rio Grande Avenue, together with the paving thirty-six (36) feet wide from the intersection of the projected Vickery Boulevard westerly to to Jones Street a distance of twenty- four hundred (2,400) feet, making a total distance of forty-seven hundred (4,700) feet, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT CRDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT Yi°OIiTS, TMIAS: SECTION I. That an application be promptly prepared and filed with the Adminis- trator of the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works for a grant and loan in the total aum of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand ($150,000.00) Dollars for the purpose of widening, straightening, extending, paving and otherwise im- proving Vickery Boulevard, from the south line of Bessie Street to the west line of Jones Street, a total distance of forty-seven hundred (4,700) feet, according to plans and specifications now on file in the office of the City Engineer.
