I.Call to Order
With a quorum of the City Council Members present, Mayor Moncrief called the special called
meeting of the Fort Worth City Council to order at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, in the
Pre-Council Chamber of the Fort Worth City Hall, 1000 Throckmorton Street, Fort Worth, Texas
76102.
II. Consideration of Resolution Regarding City of Fort Worth's Response to Request for Mutual
Aid Assistance Pursuant to Chapter 418 of the Texas Government Code in Connection with the
Effects of Hurricane Ike
Mayor Pro tem Hicks made a motion, seconded by Council Member Silcox that the resolution be
adopted.
First Assistant City Manager Joe Paniagua advised that since receiving the request from the City of
Houston for Law Enforcement assistance, and the City sending 20 police officers plus a supervisor and
ten vehicles along with the convoy on September 14, 2008, the City had received a request from the
City of Pasadena for pier support. He added that Interim Police Chief Kneblick had recommended that
the City send two police officers trained in pier support and he asked that the Council amend the
second clause after the resolve statement to reflect "...the mutual aid assistance with the City of
Houston and the City of Pasadena with law enforcement...".
Mayor Moncrief requested a motion to accept the additional language for the resolution.
Mayor Pro tem Hicks made a motion, seconded by Council Member Silcox, that the additional
language provided by Assistant City Manager Joe Paniagua be accepted. The motion carried
unanimously nine (9) ayes to zero (0) nays.
Mayor Pro tem Hicks made a motion, seconded by Council Member Silcox, that Resolution No. 3659-
09-2008 be adopted as amended. The motion carried unanimously nine (9) ayes to zero (0) nays.
III. Adiournment
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:03 p.m.
