AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF AN
AVIATION SUPERVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH.
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth owns two major airfields; and,
WHEREAS, the supervision of these airfields is of vital concern not
only to the City of Fort Worth but to the nation as a whole by reason of
their valuable contribution to the defense of our country; and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed expedient and in the best interests of the City
that a supervising board be created for the City's aviation properties; NOW,•
THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
There is hereby created a board to be known as the "Aviation Super-
vtsory Board of the City of Fort Worth."
SECTION 2.
This Board shall consist of five (5) members nominated by the Mayor
and confirmed by the City Council. The tenure of office of each member
shall be for two (2) years unless that tenure shall expire by reason of
death, resignation, inability to serve, or by removal in the way and manner
provided in Section 3, Chapter XIX of the City Charter, for removal of a
member of the Recreation Board. Any vacancy in the membership of the Board
shall be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as the original
appointment.
SECTION 3.
The purpose of this Board shall be to make a careful survey of the
aviation properties of the City of Fort Worth, to supervise and determine
whether or not the general policies of the City Council in the operation of
its aviation fields are carefully observed, to the end that the best inter-
ests of the City of Fort Worth are fully protected, and from time to time to
make such recommendations to the City Council with respect to the City's
aviation properties as to the Board may be considered appropriate.
SECTION 4.
The Board shall elect its own Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary,
and adopt its own rules as to the time and place of its meetings.
SECTION 5.
This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect
from and after the date of its passage, and it is so ordained.
