HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 1777 ORDINANCE NO AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT AN APPLICATION BE PREPARED AND FILED WITH THE AIMINISTRATOR OF THE FELERAL ENi GRWCY ADMINISTRATION OF PUBLIC WORKS FOR A GRANT AND LOAN OF SEVENTY--SIX THOUSAND ($76,000.00) DOLLARS TO SECURE ADDI- TIONAL RIGHT OF WAY ON THE EAST ROSEDALE PROJECT FROM SOUTH MAIN STREET TO RENNER AVENUE IN ORDER THAT THE STATE HICJIWAY CONUISSION OF TEAS AND THE BUREAU OF PUBLIC ROADS OF THE DEPARTMHAT OF AGRICULTURE OF THE UNITED STATES MAY PROCEED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF HIGHWAY NO. 34 OVER SAID PROJECT. WHEREAS, the City Plan Commission, after considerable delibera- tion in connection with a comprehensive program to widen, extend and im- prove streets and thoroughfares, and particularly the main traffic arter- ies in said city, and in co-operation with the City Council and various civic organizations, designated East Rosedale and West Rosedale Projects as the main east and west arterial thoroughfare; and, WHEREAS, on or about the 24th day of November, A. D. 1925, the resident qualified taxpaying voters of the City of Fort Worth authorized the issuance of One Million, Four Hundred Thousand ($1,400,000.00) Dollars for the purpose of constructing, improving and extending its system of streets and thoroughfares by constructing, improving and extending a new main arterial street and thoroughfare running north and south and a new main arterial street and thoroughfare extending east and west through said city, including in such permanent improvement grade separation, bridges, drainage and the purchase of right of way; and, WHEREAS, Five Hundred and Fifty Thousand ($550,000.00) Dollars worth of said bonds, and being Series #51, have been issued out of the original issue of One Million, Four Hundred Thousand ($1,400,000.00) Dol- lars and there is now left in said original issue Eight Hundred and Fifty Thousand ($850,000.00) Dollars worth of said bonds subject to be issued for the purposes hereinbefore set forth; and, WHEREAS, the State Highway Commission of the State of Texas and the Bureau of Public Roads of the Department of Agriculture of the United States of America are desirous of constructing State Highway No. 34 over that portion of the East Rosedale Project in.the City of Fort Worth, Texas, extending from Renner Avenue to South Main Street; and, r WHEREAS, in the construction of said highway along the East Rose dale Project it will be necessary for the City of Fort Worth to acquire addi- tional right of way on said street; and, WHEREAS, it has been estimated that such additional right of way will cost Seventy-six Thousand ($76,000.00) Dollars, NOW, THEF,EFOBSs BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORM, TMUS: SECTION I. That an application be promptly prepared and filed with the Adminis- trator of the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works for a grant and loan in the total sum of Seventy=-six Thousand ($76,000.00) Dollars for the purpose of acquiring such additional right of way on the East Rosedale Project, from the west line of Renner Avenue to the east line of South Main Street, a distahce of seven thousand and seventy-five (7,075) feet, said project being more particularly described as follows: Begtuning on East Rosedale Street at South Main Street; Thence east following Rosedale Street a distance of 1618 feet to a point east of Louisiana Avenue; Thence in a southeasterly direction across the northeast corner of Block 5, Evans South Addition, a distance of 500 feet to White Street, at Missouri Avenue; Thence east on White Street a distance of 2300 feet to Fabens Street; Thence in a southeasterly direction across Block H, W. H. Bolts Subdivision and across Block 14, Vickery's Addition, and across Block 12, Vickeryts Addition, a distance of 1000 feet to Oleander Street just west of the I. & G. N. R. R.; Thence east on Oleander Street a distance of 1700 feet to Renner Avenue, in order that the construction and improvement of State Highway No. 34 on said thoroughfare by the State Highway Commission of the State of Texas and the Bureau of Public Roads of the Department of Agriculture of the United States of America may proceed without delay.
