An Ordinance regulating automobiles and what is known as service cars operating on the streets of Fort Worth and engaged in the business of carrying passengers for hire, providing for a license fee or police tax for service cars and automobiles engaged in t#a business of carrying passengers for hire; prohibiting the standing or parking of service oars or automobiles engaged in the business of carrying passen are for hire, on cer:tai,&�,streets in the Cit_. of Fort 1rorth ri •�<.�-�l1C1 Ao'tt✓--eG*�r� �LL2-c.k�-[-�c�__ J WHEREAS, under existing conditions in the City of Fort Worth, the parking of service cars' and automobiles at points on Main and Houston Streets, North Hain Street and Ex- change Avenue, by the owners of such service cars and auto- mobiles#'has become so annoying and continuous as to constitute an occupation of said streets and a nuisance, and WHEREAS; THE OUnding of service cars and automobiles used in the carrying of passengers for hire, on said streets, has become an obstruetio,4 to said etregts,in view of the con- gested condition of travel and traffic on said streets, and WHEREAS, under the teams of Section 17, dhapter 8 ti of the charter of the City of Fort Worth, the Board of Commis- sioners are specially authorized to prescribe license fees or police taxes necessary and proper to enable the city to exer- cise proper police surveillance over persons, firms or corp- orations or calling subject to same, and WHEREAS, under the state law, municipal corporations are authorized to prescribe license fees on service cars and automobiles engaged in the'" CNbOV.of rjing p sengers for hire, and WHEREAS, aX great number of service oars and W omobiles engaged in the business of carrying passengers for hire, and the steady and continual increase of the number thereof, rend- ers it necessary for a police tax for proper surveillunos of same, now therefore a. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMAISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH. SECTION 1. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person or persons, firm or corporation to operate or main- tain what is known as service cars or automobiles on the streets of Fort Worth, for the purpose of carrying and transporting passengers I from place to-place )within the City of Fort Worth for hire, without first having obtained and paying for a license fee or police tax for each service car or automobile so engaged, as hereafter set out. SECTION 2. There is hereby fixed a liQonse fee or police tax, which shall be eolleot6d from any person or per- sons, firm or corporation operating service cars or auto- mobiles engaged in the business of carrying or transporting passengers for hire, on the streets of the City of Fort Worth, /7or"+VA wvi in the sum of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00)�, for each service ,_� sutom�bigagad in said business on the streets of the City of Fort Worth. SECTION 3. The license fee or police tax herein provided for Imay be transferred to the purchaser upon the sale of any service car or automobile being made; but the assessor and collector shall be notified of such sale or transfer, within five days after such sale or transfer be- ing made, or the license fee will be absolutely farfatted. SECTIO:: 4. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person or persons, firm or corporation to park or stand or detain any service car or automobile used or operated on the streets of the City of Fort Worth, for the purpose of carrying or transporting passengers for hire, while waiting for or soliciting employment on any of the following described streets, to wit: Main street from First Street to the South line of Front Street. Houston street .from Belknap street to the South line of Front Street. 3. North Main Street from Twenty-fourth to Twenty- fifth Street. East Exshange Avenue from Main Street to the City limits. EAU. West Exchange Avenue from North Main Street 1tm rGr Avenue. SECTION 5. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person, or persons, firm or corporation to park, stand or detain any service car or automobile used or operated on the streets of the City of Fort Worth, for the purpose of carrying or transporting passengers for hire, while waiting for or soliciting employmen�in front of, or on the side of the Texas and Pacific Railway Union Station , except as herein provided. (a) Service cars and automobiles engaged in the business of carrying and transporting passengers for hire, may occupy a stand along the WAM curb fronting the Texas and Pacific Rail- way Union Station from a point opposite the South side of the West entrance to said station and extending to-�the curb line at the South west corner of the block. SECTION 6. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person or persons, firm or corporation to park Isitand or detain any service car or automobile, used or operated on the streets of the City of Fort Worth, for the purpose of carrying pass- engers for hire, while waiting for or soliciting employment on the vacant space or square west of the Texas and Pacific Railway Union Station in the center og which stands the Al Haynes Triangle and monument, except along the South curb of the triangle eneloong the Al Hayn'6s monument. SECTION 7/ It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person or persons, firm or corporation to parlq/stand\,dr detain any derviee oar or automobile, opertaing or used on the streets of the City of Fort �,orth, for the purpose of carrying or transporting passengers for hire, while waiting for or soliciting employmentcon Jones Street West of the i rAP 4. Santa Fe Railway Union Station, except as herein provided. (a) Service cars and automobiles used or operated for he purpose of carrying or transporting passengers for hire, may occupy a space along the curb line West of the Santa Fe Railway Union Station from a point South o the West entrance to said station and extending ft the curb line along the East, side of said Anes Street, to the North ourb line of Fifteenth Street. (b) Service cars and automobiles engaged in the business of carrying and transporting passengers for hire, may occupy a stand along the East side of Jones Street from the South curb line of Fifteenth Street to the drive way of the Yells FVgo Express Company. �- SECTION &. All service care and aut4iles in the occupation of the stands herein designated, shall stand with the side of the cars parallel with the curb. SECTION,a. Any person cr persons, firm or corporation _ violating aay`cf the provisions of this ordinance shall be- deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not less than Five Dollars 05.00), and not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) , and each violation thereof shall be and is hereby declared to be a distinct and separate offense and punishable as such. SECTION 10. All ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 11. This ordinance is hereby declared to ' be cumulative 6 all other ordinances regulating traffic upon the streets of Fort Worth, except were the same are In conflict with the provisions of this ordinance. SECTION la. SECTION 13. This ordinance shall take affect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication as required by law.
