HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 483 ORDINANCE NO. 483 An Ordinance amending section 23 of chapter two relating to the construction and regulation of Motion Picture Theaters, the same being Ordinance No. 400 passed January 13, 1914. Said section 23 appearing at page 309 of the Revised Ordinances, so as to make the Board of Examination for Motion Picture Show Operators be, composed of the City Electrician, Fire Marshal, City Building Inspector and a Motion Picture Machine Operator. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD CF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF FORT pDRTH: SECTION I. That section 23 of Ordinance No. 400 passed January 13, 1914, the same being section 23 of chapter two relating to the construction and regulation of Motion Picture Theaters for the City of Fort Worth. Said section appearing on page 309 and 310 of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Fort Worth, be and the same is hereby amended so as to hereafter read as follows: "Section 23. There is hereby created and established a Board for the examination for all operators and assistant operators, which Board shall be composed of the City Electrician, Fire Marshall, City Building Inspector and a citizen of Fort Worth who shall be a person actually engaged in the operation of Picture Show machines, and a man of practical experience and knowledge in such business. Said operator shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Board of Comni.ssioners, and shall hold office for a period of time not longer than two years or until the term of office of the Mayor making the appointment shall have expired. Immediately upon taking effect of this Ordinance all operators and assistant operators shall immediately appear before said Board and each shall folly demonstrate his ability and fitness to operate motion picture machines, and said Board to be exclusive judge of said qualifications and fitness, and if satisfied thereof, said Board shall issue permits to all operators and assistant operators that it may deem competent, and number said permits con- secutively from one on, and said Board shall charge each applicant and said applicant shall pay a fee of $2.50 for such permit. V&thin ten dap after this ordinance shall become a law, each and all houses operating picture machines employing one or more operators shall display in a conspciuous place in the box office readily seen by patrons or inspectors permit reading: 4P "THE MACHINES IN THIS HOUSE ARE OPERATED BY OPERATOR (OR ASSISTANT OPERATOR) under permit No CITY OF FORT WORTH." SECTION II. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication as required by law. Approved as to Form. /a/ T. A. Altman Carp— oration Counsel.
