Council Members may see or get questions about these devices. Special screens will be installed in 33 storm water inlets at various sites around the City including: the Downtown area, John Peter Smith Hospital, Paschal High School, Lake Como and Lake Worth. Two types of screens will be tested; (1) Screens that are placed over the throat of the inlet to reduce the amount of trash entering the inlet, and (2) Screens that are placed within the inlet vault to further reduce the amount of trash entering the pipe system. The cost of installing these devices is approximately $30,000. Staff is closely coordinating this project with other local agencies including Downtown Fort Worth Inc., Fort Worth ISD, and the Tarrant Regional Water District, as part our continuing efforts to eliminate obstructions in the City's storm sewers and protect downstream water bodies. The performance of these devices will be closely monitored over two years to determine volume and weight of materials collected, types of materials collected, cleaning frequencies required, and related costs. These results will be reported to Council as information becomes available. Any questions concerning this project can be addressed to Don McChesney, Stormwater Engineering Manager, at 817- 392 -7901.
