CREATING A BUREAU OF PUBLIC SAFETY IN AND
FOR THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, PROVIDING WHO
SHALL CONSTITUTE SUCH BUREAU AND ITS DUTIES.

Sec. 1. There is hereby created a Bureau to be
called a Bureaii of Public Safety within and for the City of
Fort Worth.
Sec. 2. Said. Bureau shall be composed of six (6)
members with a Chairman of said Bureau, the Chairman con-
stituting the seventh member of said Bureau. The membership
of said Bureau to be made up as follows: The Commissioner of
Lights, who will be chairman of said' Bureau; the Commissioner
of Streets and Public Buildings; the Water Commissioner and
the Chief of the Fire Department of the City of Fort Worth.
There shall be selected by the above four members of said
Bureau, a duly licensed and recognized architect of said City,
and there shall be selected by the above four members a member
who shall come from that class known as business men, and there
shall be selected as aforesaid, a member of said Bureau from
the building trade forces of the City.
Sec. 3. After the organization of said Bureau a
secretary shall be designated for said Bureau by the Chairman,
the Commissioner -of Lights.
Sec. 4. The duties of said Bureau Af Public Safety
will be to co-operate with the heads of the City P-orcr7, .ert
who are active members of said Bureau as well as the other
commissioners of said City, and the Mayor of said City,
recommending Ordinances deemed advisable by said Bureau far
the public safety and especially with reference to buildings
and lights of every kind and description, and also with reference
to sidewalks and all other structures of any and every kind
occupying the sidewalks, streets and public properties of said
City. It will be the further duty of said Bureau to co-operate
with the heads of the City government in the enforcement
of said Ordiaances and rules and regulations prescribed by
the heads of the City government after the passage of Ordinances
and the promulgation of rules and regulations.
Sec. 5. Said Bureau shall meet regularly once in
each month, and in addition thereto, subject to the call of
the Shairman.
Sec. 6. Said Bureau shall prescribe riles and
regulatons for the use and direction of the several inspectors
of the City such as plumbing, light, building, weights and
measures, fire marshall, and all other Inspectors in the employment
of the Oity, but said inspectors shall be employed by the heads
of the several departments of the government as they are now
employed, and subject to final orders of their respective heads
of departments when there shall be conflict between heads of
degart�aeats-and d Bum"n..
Sec. 7. The service of the members of said Bureau
not in the employ of the City shall be an honorary one and
without compensation, and the services of those in the employ of
the Ckty as heads of departments or otherwise, shall be without
additional compensation to that paid them by the City for the
respectivd positions filled by them.
Sec. S. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force atom and after its passage

I hereby certify that the above and foregoing Ordinance
was duly presented and unanimously passed and adopted by the Board
of-Commissioners of the City of Fort Perth, Texas. at a regular
session of said Board held Tuesday July I7th. A.D. I9I7.
