The purpose of this Informal Report is to respond to questions raised regarding the Late Night
Program activity fee implemented in accordance with the FY2010 adopted budget. The Parks
and Community Services Department's Late Night Program is offered at five (5) community
centers including the following: Como, Martin Luther King, Northside, Sycamore and Worth
Heights. The program operates year -round from Tuesday to Saturday night until 9pm
(Tuesdays), 10pm (Wednesdays), 11 pm (Thursdays) and 12am (Fridays & Saturdays). During
the later program operating hours (generally from 9pm until close), a FWPD Officer is assigned
on an overtime basis to provide security for patrons and staff. The security is funded by the
Crime Control and Prevention District with the primary goal of ensuring a "safe haven" for
participants.
The Late Night Program activity fee is charged on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights only.
The per person activity fee is $2.00 per night. There is the option available for a discounted
activity fee of $20.00 per month. The program fee schedule also includes team fees for athletic
leagues and tournaments at a maximum amount of $250.00 per team.
The FY2010 adopted budget allocates $577,041.00 and ten (10) authorized positions for the
operation of the Late Night Program (the FY2010 adopted CCPD budget allocates $234,992.00
for program security). The adopted budget appropriates $120,000.00 in revenues ($24,000.00 per
site).
During the FY2011 budget review process, the impact of these newly instituted fees will be
presented to the City Council. In the interim, should you have any questions please contact
Charles W. Daniels, Assistant City Manager or Richard Zavala, Parks and Community Services
Director.
