IESCRIBING THICKNESS OF SOLID MICK MMIOR WALLS OTHER
THAN SKRI.&TON CONSTRUCTION, AND PROVIDING THAT ALL ORDM-
ANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT IMMWITH ARE ME-
BY R'A'PRaM, AND PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE :MALL BE EF-
FECTIVE AIM ITS PASSAGE AND PUBLICATION AS REVIRED BY LAW,
AND PROVIDING A PMALTY FOR THE VIOLATION TMEOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WCRTH,

SECTION I.
That Paragraph 14-1-4 of Ordinance 111389 is hereby amended
to hereafter read as follows:
Faragraph 14-1-4 -- THIMSNESS OF SOLID BRICK FCiMIOR WAILS
OTHLR THAN SKELETON CONSTRUCTION. The thickness of solid brick
bearing walls shall be sufficient at all points to keep the com-
bined stressed due to live and dead loads for which the building
is designed within the limits prescribed by Paragraph 14-1-3 of
the Building Code.
The minimum thickness of solid brick blearing walls shall be
twelve (12^) inches for the two uppermost stories (not exceeding
35 feet) of their height, aml shill be increased four (41 inches
for each successive two stories (not exceeding 35 feet) or free-
tion thereof measured downward from the top of the wall, except
that the top story of buildings not exoeeding three stories or
40 feet in height, or the wall of a one story com ercial or In-
dustrial buildings may be eight (8*) inches thick, provided that
such 8 inch wall does not exceed 12 feet in unsupported height
and that the roof beams are horizontal; and except that exterior
solid brick bearing wale of one and two family dwellings may
be 8 inches thick when not more than 30 feet in height. When
gable construction is used for such dwelling, an additional 5
feet is permitted to the peak of the gable.
Where solid brick exterior bearing or party walls are atif-
fened at distances not greater than 12 feet mart by cross walls,
or by internal or external offsets or returns, at least 2 feet
deep, they may be 12 inches thick for the uppermost 50 feet, mea-
sured downward frcm the top of the wall, and stall be increased
4 inches in thickness for each successive 50 feet or fraction
thereof.
The minimum thickness of solid brick exterior nonbearing walls
shall be 12 inches for the uppermost 50 feet of their height, and
shall be increased 4 inches for each successive 35 feet or frac-
tion thereof, measured downward from the top of the wall, exaepti
that the top story wall of a building not exceeding three stories
or 40 feet in height, or the wall of a one-story ecumarcial or
Industrial building may be 8 inches thick, provided that such 8
inch wall does not exceed lR feet unsupported height, and that the
roof bears are horizontal; and except that solid brick nonbear ing
walls of one and two family dwellings may be 8 inches thick when not
more than 30 feet in height. When gable construction is used for
such dwellings an additional 5 feet is permitted to the peak of the
gable*
SECTION II.
Any person, firm, coupany, corporation and their agents,
servants or employees violating any of the provisions of this ordinance
shall upon conviction be fined in any sum not exceeding 0200.00 for each
and every day that any person shall fail, omit, neglect or refuse to do
any act required by the terms of this ordinance, or if they shall do any
act in violation of the terms of this ordinance they shall be subject to
the penalty herein provided for nat to exceed $200.00.
SECTION III•
That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with are hereby repealed and of no further force and effect.
SECTION IY..
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
the date of its passage and publication as required by law.
