*= SUBJECT: MOWING SERVICE LEVELS
The purpose of this informal report is to outline the mowing service levels established by the
FY2010 adopted budget. The City of Fort Worth maintains medians, parks, traffic intersections,
the downtown interstate highway system and tax foreclosed city properties. The number of mows
per year and the mowing intervals within a year are dictated by the level of budgeted funds.
On March 9, 2010 [I. R. 9209] staff outlined the changes in grounds maintenance service levels
which have been implemented as a result of reductions in the FY2010 General Fund budget.
The following provides information regarding mowing cycles by specific maintenance category.
Maintenance Service Level Cycle
Area
Medians Maintained (mow, edge, trim) every 21 days Began mowing 3/15/10, next
cycle begins 4/5/10
Rights of Ways Maintenance is responsibility of the adjacent NA
property owner; City no longer maintains
IH30/IH35 Maintained four times a year January, April, July, October
Parks Continue to be maintained in accordance with Began mowing 3/15/10,
specific park service level category (7, 14, 21, second cycle 3/29/10 and
28,42 day cycle, majority are 14 days) next 14-day cycle begins
4/12/10
Tax foreclosed Maintained every 35 days Began mowing 3/2/10, next
properties cycle begins 4/12/10
Private owned Once due process has occurred, vacant
lots in violation properties are maintained every 45 days
Although these mowing service levels are not within optimal standards they do enable the City to
operate within available funding in order to continue the provision of core services, including
those services which most address public safety.
