APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGALIT City Attorney City of Fort Worth, TexasCAW a Mt~ Mayor and Council Communication ***ww DATE REFERENCE SUBJECT: Proposed Closing - Portion of PAGE NUMBER West Cannon Street 12/23/63 PZ-86 ' or 1--- Harris Hospital, which owns all property abutting the 1200 Block of West Cannon Street, between Blocks 5 and 12, Sandidge Addition, extending from Fifth Avenue to Lake Street, has requested the closing of this portion of West Cannon Street as shown on the attached plat. The reason for the re- quested closing is to permit Harris Hospital to use this area for hospital purposes. A similar street closing in the 1300 Block of West Cannon was authorized by Ordinance 4113, June 12, 1959. The Hospital .has agreed to convey to the City of Fort Wbrth 17 additional feet for street purposes along the north side of Cooper Street, further des- cribed as 17 feet from the south side of Block 12, Sandidge Addition, between Fifth Avenue and South Lake Street, also shown on the attached plat. The Hospital agrees to pay for the widening of Cooper Street at the location in a manner similar to the widening of Cooper Street in the 1300 block in 1959. The private utility companies have been contacted and none objects to the closing provided the,Hospital eit;ier retains easements for existing lines or pays the cost of abandoning or relocating lines now in the street. The Water Department also requests that easements be retained for existing sanitary sewer lines in the street. The Public Works, Traffic Engineering, and City -Planning -Departments offer no objections provided Cooper Street is widened as proposed by the Hospital and that the actual widening of Cooper Street is completed prior to the physical closing of Cannon Street. On December 4., 1963, the City Plan Commission considered the proposed closing and recommended that Cannon Street be closed as requested provided Cooper Street is widened by 17 feet along the north side prior to the physical clos- ing of the street. City Council action on the adoption of a proposed street- closing ordinance is requested.
