HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 2389 ORDINANCE NO. 3 S - ---AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2043, WHICH IS AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REGISTRATION AND LICENSING OF BICYCLES, BY AMDING SECTIONS 2, 3 AND 9; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF TWO YEAR LICENSES; PROVIDING FOR THE TAGGING AND IDENTIFICATION OF BICYCLES AND REGULA- TIONS THEREFOR, PROVIDING A FEE THEREFOR; PROVIDING A PENALTY; AND PROVIDING THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1, That Section 2 of Ordinance No. 2043 be amended to hereafter read as follows: The Police Department is hereby authorized and directed to issue, upon written application, bicycle licenses which shall be effective for two years, and all such licenses shall be dated October 1st of the year of issue. The license, when issued, shall entitle the licensee to operate such bi- cycle for which said license has been issued upon all the streets, alleys and public thoroughfares, exclusive of the sidewalks thereof, is the City of Fort Korth. SECTION 2, That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 2043 be amended to hereafter read as follows: The Police Department shall provide every two years metallic tags and seals, having registration numbers stamped thereon, commencing with the number "1" and indicating the years for which same is issued, and the letters "FWBL" shall be stamped thereon suitable for attachment upon the frame of each bicycle. It shall be the duty of the Police Department to attach one of said metallic tags to the frame of each bicycle upon the payment of the license fee herein provided, and said tag shall at all times during the license years for which it is issued remain so attached. At the time of the issuance of the license, the Police Department shall also issue to the person obtaining the license a regis- tration card, which said card shall bear the license and registration number of such bicycle. The Police Department shall keep a record of the date of issuance of each license, the name of the person to whom the same is issued and the number thereof, together with a description of the bicycle licensed. SECTION 3, That Section 9 of Ordinance No. 2043 be amended to hereafter read as follows: The two year license fee to be paid for each bicycle shall be fifty cents (500 and shall be paid in advance; and pursuant to Section 4 of this ordinance, such license may be transferred when the ownership of said bicycle is transferred, and a fee of twenty-five cents (250) shall be paid for such transfer. Any licensee who has lost his regis- tration card or License plate shall pay a fee of ten cents (100) for a reissuance thereof. All license fees collected under this ordinance shall be paid into the General Fluid of the City of Fort Worth. SECTION 4, Every person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon con- viction shall be punishable by a fine of not more than One Hundred Dol- lars ($100.00) nor less than Five Dollars ($5.00). SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage and publication as provided by law. VED AS TO FORK: C. y orn y Att '� ORDINANCE .
