HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 2990 ORDINANCE NO. ?L9© AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE REPORT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS: AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF A PORTION OF JESSAMINE STREET, RAMSEY AVENUE, AND PAGE STREET IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, AND AUTHORIZING ITS EXECUTION: MAKING APPROPRIATION FOR THE INDEBTEDNESS INCURRED THEREBY: AND DIRECT- ING THE CITY ENGINEER TO PREPARE ESTIMATES. WHEREAS, on the 16th day of June, 1948, by Ordinance passed and ap- proved by the City Council of the City of Fort Worth being Ordinance No. 2543, the City determined the necessity for and ordered the improvement of portions"of the :kollewifig st eta -to-wit: JESSAMINE STREET: From the westerly line of South Main Street to the easterly Right-of-way of the H. & T. C. R.R. known and designated as Unit No. 1. JESSAMINE STREET: From the easterly Right-of-way Line of the H. & T. C. R.R. to the easterly line of Jennings Avenue known and designated as Unit No. 2. RAMSEY AVENUE: From the westerly line of South Main Street to the easterly line of Jennings Avenue known and designated as Unit No. 3. PAGE STREET: From the westerly line of South Main Street to the west- erly Right-of-way Line of the H. & T. C. R.R. known and designated as Unit No. 4. WHEREAS, subsequent to the passage and approval of said ordinance, plans and specifications for said improvements were submitted by the City Engineer and said plans and specifications were approved and adopted by the City Council; and, WHEREAS, notice to bidders was given as required by the City Charter; and, WHEREAS, the bid of Worth Construction Company, was found to be the lowest and best bid for the making and construction of said improvements, to- wit, excavating present street, placing thereon a 3 inch compacted gravel foundation course, and paving with 8 inches of Concrete Pavement with com- bined concrete curb and gutter, together with incidentals and appurtenances, all as provided by said plans and specifications; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the work of making and constructing such improvements and con- tract therefor is hereby awarded to Worth Construction Company, at and for the prices stated in the proposal of the said company and as reported and re- commended by the Department of Public Works, The Mayor and City Secretary are hereby directed to execute the said contract in the name of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and to impress the corporate seal of the City thereon, the said Contract embracing therein, among other things, the prices for the work. SECTION 2. That to provide for the payment of the indebtedness incurred by the City of Fort Worth by said Contract, there is hereby appropriated out of available funds which have been set aside for said propose, an amount sufficient to pay said indebtedness so incurred. SECTION 3. That the City Engineer of the City of Fort Worth be and he is harnby ordered and directed to file with the City Council estimates of the costs of such improvements in accordance with the terms of the powers and provisions of Chapter 106 of the acts of the First called Session of the Fortieth Isgislature of the State of Texas, now shown as Article 1105b of Vernonts Civil Statutes of the State of Texas, Annotated, which law has been adopted as an amendment to and made a part of the Charter of the City of Fort Worth. APPROVED AS TO FORM: CITY A TORNEY TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: Referring to the report of the Department of Public Works in connection with bids for the improvements of Jessamine Street, from the westerly line of South Main Street to the easterly Right-of-way of the H. & T. C. R.R., known and designated as Unit No. l; Jessamine Street, from the easterly Right-of-way Line of the H. & T. C. R.R. to the easterly line of Jennings Avenue, known and designated as Unit No. 2; Ramsey Avenue, from the westerly line of South Main Street to the .easterly line of Jennings Avenue, known and designated as Unit No. 3; and Page Street, from the westerly line of South Main Street to the westerly Right-of-way Line of the H. & T. C. R.R., known and designated as Unit No. 4; in the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and to the proposed contract therefor, it appears that the amount which the City will pay in connection with such Contract and improvements is the sum of Twelve Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($12,200.00). I do hereby certify to the City Council of the City of Fort Worth that the money required for such contract and expenditures which will be incurred thereby is in the Treasury to the credit of the Street Improvement Fund and not appropriated for any other pur- pose.
