The FY2010 adopted budget eliminates or reduces grounds maintenance service levels for the mowing of rights of way (ROW), medians, parks, tax foreclosed properties and privately owned properties which are non-compliant with City Code. In addition, maintenance will also be reduced along the interstate highway system, IH-30 & IH-35, adjacent to the Central Business District. As the spring season begins and the growth in vegetation occurs, unkempt conditions will become more prevalent. The grassy areas in medians, parks, rights of way, city and privately owned lots and the interstate will continue to grow until the rains cease in the summer. Depending on the amount of late summer and fall rain, a spurt in growth will likely occur, albeit less aggressively than in the spring and early summer. The following outlines the service level changes by specific maintenance category: Maintenance Area Service Level Impact Medians Maintained (mow, edge, trim) every 21 days rather than 14 days Rights of Ways Maintenance is responsibility of the adjacent property owner; City will no longer maintain II-130/IH35 Maintained four times per year rather than every 14 days Parks Continue to be maintained in accordance with specific park service level category; however, no edging and trimming until first winter freeze.
