AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE REPORT OF THE PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT; AWARDING THE CONTRACT OF THE IMPROVEWT
OF PORTIONS OF WILLIE STREET, IArSM STREET, CHAPMAN
Avwuz, AND CALLAHAN STREET IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTS,
TEXAS, AND AUTHORIZED ITS ESECUTION; MAKING APPROPRIATION
FOR THE INDEBTIMTESS THEREBY INCURRED; AND DIRECTING THE
CITY ZTGINERR TO PREPARE ESTIMATES.
WHEREAS, by Ordinances passed and approved by the City Council of
the City of Fort Worth, being Ordinances No. 3976, 3977, 3978, and 3979, the
City Council determined the necessity for and ordered the improvement of portions
of various streets, to-wit:
WILLIE STREET: from the easterly line of Amanda Street to the
westerly line of Vincennes Street, known and
designated as Unit No. 1;
DUNBAR STREET: from the easterly line of Amanda Street to the
westerly line of Vincennes Street, known and
designated as Unit No. 2;
CHAPMAN AVENUE: from the easter]y line of Amanda Street to the
westerly line of Walter Willi Addition, which is
168 feet east of the easterly line of Liberty Street,
known and designated as Unit No. 3;
CALLAHAN STREET: from the easterly line of Amanda Street to the
westerly line of Lena Street, known and designated
as Unit No. 4;
WHEREAS, subsequent to the passage and approval of said Ordinances,
Plans and Specifications for said improvements were submitted by the Public
Works Director and said Plane and Specifications were approved and adopted by the
City Council; and,
WHEREAS, Notice to Bidders was given as required by the City Charter;
and,
WHEREAS, the bid of General Construction Comparq was found to be the
lowest and best bid for the making and construction of said improvements, to-wit:
Excavation of present streets and ?is ezusher-ran crushed limestone flexible base
course with combined curb and gutter and necessary appurtenances, and placing ljs
Not Mix Asphaltic Concrete Surface, all as provided by said Plans and Specifications;
NOW, TBEMORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TAM CITY OF FORT WORTS, TEAS:
SECTION 1.
That the work of making and constructing each improvements and
contracts therefor is hereby awarded to General Construction Company. at and for
the prices stated in the proposal of the said Company and as reported and
recommended by the Public Works Department. The Armor and City Secretary are
hereby directed to execute the said contract in the name of the City of Fort
Worth, Texas, and to impress the corporate seal of the City thereon, the said
contract embracing therein, among other things, the prices for the work.
SECTION 2.
Tat to provide for the payment of the indebtedness incurred by
the City of Fort Worth by said contract, there is hereby appropriated out of
available funds which have been set aside for said purpose, an amount sufficient
to pay said indebtedness so incurred.
SECTION 3.
That the Public Works Director of the City of Fort Worth be. and
he is hereby ordered and directed to file with the City Council estimates of
the cost of such improvements in accordance with the terms of the powers and
provisions of Chapter 106 of the acts of the First called session of the
Fortieth Legislature of the State of Texas, now shown as Article 1105 b of
Vernonts Civil Statutes of the State of Texas. Annotated, which law has been
adopted as an amendment to and made a part of the Charter of the City of Fort
Worth.
