FEBRUARY 14, 2005
Date & Time On the 14th day of February, A.D., 2005, the City Council of the
City of Fort Worth, Texas, met in called - special session at 9:49
a.m., in the Pre-Council Chamber, 1000 Throckmorton, with the
following members and officers present:
Attendance Mayor Mike Moncrief; Mayor Pro tem Ralph McCloud; Council
Members Chuck Silcox, Clyde Picht, John Stevenson, and Wendy
Davis; City Manager Charles Boswell; City Attorney David Yett;
and City Secretary Marty Hendrix. Council Members Jim Lane,
Becky Haskin, and Donavan Wheatfall were absent. With a
quorum present, the following business was transacted:
Res. #3165-02-2005 There was presented Resolution No. 3165-02-2005 declaring the
Declare Results of results of the election held on Saturday, February 5, 2005, on the
February 5, 2005, continuation of the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention
Crime Control and District for five years and the continuation of the District's one-
Prevention District half cent sales tax for five years.
Election
Mayor Moncrief commended Council Member Silcox and
Council Member Lane for a job extremely well done and that the
margin of victory spoke volumes. He also commended the City
staff for their hard work, researching and providing information
to the citizens on how the sales tax could be used to reduce the
crime rate.
Council Member Silcox stated that the success of the election
could not have been achieved without the hard work of Sandy
Oliver and her staff from the Budget and Management Services
Department, as well as the City Manager's staff.
Assistant City Attorney Cynthia Garcia stated that the Crime
Control and Prevention District Board met February 13, 2005, to
canvass the election results as follows:
PROPOSITION
"Whether the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention District
should be continued for five years and the Crime Control and
Prevention District sales tax of one-half cent should be continued
for five years."

She advised the Council that a question was raised relative to the
39 under votes on the Summary of the voting returns.
City Secretary Hendrix stated that the difference of 39 votes
resulted from the total number of voters voting versus the actual
number of ballots cast. She explained that these voters either did
not know what they were voting for and consequently decided not
to cast their vote, or did not press the cast vote button on the
Direct Recording Electronic voting machine.
Council Member Silcox made a motion, seconded by Mayor Pro
tem McCloud, that the resolution be adopted. The motion
carried unanimously.
Adjournment There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at
9:53 a.m.
