ON ORDINANCE granting to the Northern Texas Traction
Company, a corporation, and its assigns, the right and franchise
to construct, maintain and operate certain lines of electric
street railway over and upon certain Streets in the City of Ft.
Worth, and to erect and maintain, in connection therewith, poles,
trolley wires and overhead wire equipment necessary to operate
such electric railvay; the same being extensions of, connections
with and branches of certain lines of electric street railway,
at present owned and operated by said Northern Texas Traction
Company, in the City of Fort Worth.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF, THE
CITY OF FORT WORTH:
Section I: The City of Fort Worth, a milnicipal corporation,
in Tarrant County, Texas, doth hereby give and grant unto the
Northern Texas Traction Company, a corporation, domiciled in
Tarrant Bounty, Texas, and organized for the purpose of operating
electric street railways , and its successors and assigns, the '
right, privilege and franchises to construct, maintain and operate
a line of electric street railway tracks, together with all necessary
switches, side-tracks and turnouts, for the operation of electric
street cars thereon, as an extension of, connection with and branch
of that present line of electric street railway, now owned and
operated by the said Northern Texas Traction Company, over East
Front Street and Wilkinson ,Avenue, and known as the East Front
Street line, and Sycamore Heightsline, along, over and upon the
following named and described streets in the said City of Fort
Worth, Texas, to-wit:
Beginning at the point of connection with the linens of
railway track of the Northern Texas Traction Company, at the inter-
section of Wilkinson Avenue and Toronto Street; thence South on
Toronto street to Barton Street; thence East on Barton Street
with its extensions to Ayres Avelk!e in said City, a distance of
approximately 3600 feet.
And the like privilege and franchise is also granted unto
the said Northerd Texas Traction Company, and its assigns to erect
and maintain, in connection with its said line of street railway
track, poles , wires and overhead electrical construction necessary,
useful or desirable for the propulsion of said cars by electric power.
This franchise and grant of the right and privilege to
extend adid lines of street railway over the streets just above
mentioned, to be subject $o and run current with the franchises
heretofore granted by the City of Fort Worth, for the construction,
maintenance and operation of a line of street railway over said
East Front Street, and Wilkinson Avenue.
Section II: All tracks laid under therovisions of this
Ordinance shall be located, laid and maintained in such manner as
shall be designated by the City Engineer.
Section III. Said Northern Texas Traction Company, or its
assigns shall at its or their own sole cost and expense pave and re-
pave or otherwise surface and re-surface and keep constantly in
good order and condition, with the same material with which the
street on the outside is paved and surfaced, all that part of each

street occu ied by it or that which lies between the rails of said
tracks and or 18 inches on each side thereof, and said Northern
Texas Traction Company or its assigns shall conform its or their
tracks or any part thereof to the proper grade of each street and
change the level of said tracks as often and whenever the grade of
any such street is changed so that every part of each track shall
always be kept at the duly established grade line or as near thereto
as the surface of the grade of the street outside thereof will permit.
Section IVi Said Northern Texas Traction Company its
successors and assigns, do hereby agree to indemnify and held
the said City of Fort Worth harmless because of, and promptly to
pay off and discharge, or repay to the said City, all damages,
claims, judgments, attorney's fees and other costs and expenses
rendered against, or incurred, or paid out by the said City by
reason of injuries either to persons or property occasioned as
the proximate result of arything done or permitted or in arW way
proximately arising out of the construction, operation, maintenamn e
upon the above streets and thoroughfares of the tracks, poles or
wires of said Company.
Section V. All of the conditions, limitations and pro-
visions contained in the ordinance granting franchises now oAned
by the Northern Texas Traction Company on East Front 1'treet, and
the extensions thereof, and across Hanley Bloulevard, and over
Wilkinson Avenue, shall continue in force and govern and control
(in addition to the provisions of this ordinance) the operation
and construction of the contemplated extension of the present
line of street railway, as herein and hereby granted.
Section VI. That this ordinance shall take effect and
be in force from and after its passage.
