Honorable Mayor and Re: Seminary Drive Extension
Members of the Clty Council Proposed Name Change
City of Fort Worth
Mrs. McKnight and Gentlemen:
The Seminary Drive Extension has been opened for traffic between Hemphill
Street and the North-South Freeway, opening this major thoroughfare from
west of Granbury Road on the southwest side of the City to'Mansfield High-
way ( U.S. Highway 287), on the southeast side of the City. A portion of
this project was constructed in the right-of-way of Prince Street, and
Ordinance No. 2723 changed one length of this street to Seminary Drive to
conform to its location adjacent to the Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary. To avoid confusion, it is recommended that the remaining portion
of Prince Street, from the east line of James Street to the westerly line
of the M.K.T. Railroad right-of-way, be changed by ordinance to West
Seminary Drive, and also that Ordinance No. 2723, changing Kellis Street
to Seminary Drive, be amended to read West Seminary Drive so that the
thoroughfare will be designated West Seminary Drive from Michigan Street to
the west to Trail Lake Drive.
In order to avoid duplication, it is also recommen A -heat the portion of
old Seminary Drive extending due west from the west line of Michigan Street
to the easterly line of College Avenue be changed by ordinance to Kellis
Street, its original name.
