With a quorum of the City Council Members present, the Council boarded a bus at Fort
Worth City Hall, 1000 Throckmorton, Fort Worth, Texas 76102, at 10:15 a.m., on Monday,
December 19, 2005, to begin their tour of City Council Member Kathleen Hicks' District 8 and
Council Member Wendy Davis' District 9.
The tour began with District 9, which includes the downtown area of Fort Worth, the
Medical District and the Texas Christian University area as well as neighborhoods in south and
southwest Fort Worth. Boundaries are Loop 820 on the south, west to Hulen Street, east to
IH35W and north just past downtown, taking in the historic Samuels Avenue neighborhood. The
Council toured the following locations:
1. Samuels' Avenue Neighborhood Association (beginning at 400 Samuels
Avenue)
2. Linwood Neighborhood Association (beginning at 200 Foch, around
Linwood Park and ending at Wimberley)
3. Montgomery Ward Plaza (2600 West 7th Street)
4. Hemphill Corridor(from 100 Hemphill to 4300 Hemphill)
a. Oleander Walk
b. Magnolia Green
c. Need for various improvements to Hemphill
d. Berry Street/Hemphill Intersection
e. Texas Steel Mill Property
5. Greenbriar Community Center(5200 Hemphill Street)
The tour continued with District 8, which runs north and south with its western border
paralleling IH35W from the Johnson County line to its north border at the Airport Freeway. On
the east it extends to Wichita Street and includes the Near East Side. The district is home to
manufacturing and industrial sites located along IH35W and Fort Worth Spinks Airport. The
Council toured the following locations:
1. Older homes on Morningside Drive (700 block of Morningside Drive,
beginning with IH35W Access Road and ending at Mississippi.)

2. Riverside Drive/Berry Street Improvements: Sierra Vista Single Family
Residential Development (1200 block of Glen Gardens, beginning at
Beverly and ending at Riverside Drive)
3. Masonic Home (3600 Wichita Street)
4. Texas Wesleyan/Private Entities Joint Venture: Store Front Rehabilitation
(3 100 block of East Rosedale, beginning at Thrall and ending on Vaughn)
5. Evans Plaza (700 block of Evans Avenue, beginning at Rosedale and
ending on Terrell Street)
The bus tour also included Community of Hope on Lancaster, the Lancaster Corridor and
Riverside Drive and the Riverside Community Center.
With the tour completed, the City Council returned to the Fort Worth City Hall, 1000
Throckmorton, Fort Worth, Texas 76102, at 12:30 p.m., on Monday, December 19, 2005.
