HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 598 ORDINANCE BOOK "Gli r C O P Y Page 498 ORDINANCE NO. 598 AN ORDINANCE ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION, AT WHICH WILL BE SUBMITTED TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS WHO PAY TAXES ON PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF FORT WORTH AND IN THE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT OF FORT WORTH THE QUESTION WHETHER OR NOT BONDS OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH IN THE SUM OF $400,000.00 SHALL BE ISSUED FOR THE PURPOSE OF INCREASING AND INCLUDING THE SCHOOL FACILITIES IN SAID CITY AND FOR THE PMC- CHASE OF LANDS THEREFOR, THE CONSTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS IND THE REPAIR, RECONSTRUCTION AND RE- NOVATION THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH: Santion 1. That a Special election be, and is hereby, called and ordered for the llth day of December, 1917, at which election the qualified voters who pay taxes on property in the City of Fort Worth and in the Independent School District of Fort Worth, will determine whether or not bonds of the City of Fort Worth in the sum of $400,000.00 shall be issued for the purpose of inefeasing and improving the School facilities in said City, and for the purchase of lands therefor, the construction of buildings thereon and the repair, reconstruction and renovation thereof, which bond issue has been requested by the Board of Trustees of the Independent Schoo 1 District of Fort Worth. section 2. That this ordinance shall at once be published in a newspaper published in the City of Fort Worth, and such publication made once each day for five consecutive days. get- .ion 3. That such special election shall be held in the manner and within the hours prescribed fr General Elections by the laws of Texas so far as they may be applicable. Section 4. That the polling places for such special election, the personnel of the officers who are to hold the same, the preparation of the ballots, and all details connected with the holding of the election will be determined and arranged by the Board of Commissioners, and proper notice of such matters will be given in a proclamation by the Mayor. I hereby certify that the above and foregoing ordinance was duly presented and unanimously passed and adopted by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, at a regular session of said Board held Tuesday, November 20th, A.
