HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 3924-10-2010 A Resolution NO. 3924-10-2010 ADOPTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SUSTAINABILITY TASK FORCE AND ENTERING INTO A PARTNERSHIP FOR EDUCATION WITH THE FORT WORTH MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND HISTORY AND THE SCHOOL OF GEOLOGY, ENERGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT AT TEXAS CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY WHEREAS on January 13, 2009, the City Council approved Resolution No. 3705 creating and appointing members to the Sustainable Development Task Force; and WHEREAS on May 5, 2009, the Sustainable Development Task Force recommended a Sustainable Development Action Plan to the City Council with initiatives from the first phase of work relating to private development in Fort Worth; and WHEREAS on June 9, 2009, the City Council approved Resolution No. 3744 creating and appointing members to the Sustainability Task Force for the second phase of work; and WHEREAS on October 13, 2009, the Sustainability Task Force recommended a Sustainability Action Plan to the City Council with initiatives from the second phase of work relating to City government operations; and WHEREAS on February 23, 2010, the City Council approved Resolution No. 3860 creating and appointing members to the Sustainability Task Force for the third and final phase of work; and WHEREAS on September 28, 2010, the Sustainability Task Force recommended a Sustainability Action Plan to the City Council with initiatives relating to education and outreach efforts targeting Fort Worth residents, employees and businesses; and WHEREAS it is desirable to incorporate the initiatives from all three phases of the Sustainability Action Plan by reference into the Comprehensive Plan; and WHEREAS the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History has invited the City of Fort Worth and the School of Geology, Energy and the Environment at Texas Christian University(TCU) to form a partnership to host a series of roundtable discussions concerning sustainable energy resources, practices and technologies and to educate the community on local sustainability initiatives; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, THAT: 1. The Sustainability Action Plan be adopted and incorporated by reference into the Comprehensive Plan; and FoRTWOUH RESOLUTION NO. 3924-10-2010 2. The City Manager or his designee be authorized to sign a letter of agreement with the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and the School of Geology, Energy and the Environment at TCU to host a series of sustainable energy roundtable discussions and to educate the community on local sustainability initiatives. This resolution is adopted and effective this 5th day of October, 2010.
