Re: Amendment No. 3— Design Services
Design Services for Northside H 48-inch Water Main,Phase 1 from Heritage Trace Parkway
to Alta Vista Road
City Project No. 2082
City Secretary No. 44281
Dear Mr. Kasavich:
As the contractor constructed the 8-inch sewer along Keller Hicks Road it was determined that
the corridor has multiple fiber optic lines and other utilities drastically slowing the construction
of the sewer line. Due to issues with existing utilities near the proposed alignment it is requested
that an alternate alignment from Misty Run to end of sewer line be investigated. The additional
services include:
• Reroute design for Keller Hicks Road of approx. 875 linear feet sanitary sewer line
Keller Hicks Road Sanitary Sewer Extension Reroute
During construction of the 8-inch sewer the contractor rate of production was greatly reduced as
they approached Misty Run due to existing fiber and other utilities. The sewer line cannot be
moved any closer to the newly constructed 48-inch line without utilizing pressure sewer pipe/
encasing the 48-inch water main (TCEQ separation requirements) so the only real option is to
move closer to the north ROW line or into a new easement north of the ROW. Because the
electric poles are approx. 7 feet south of the north ROW there is not adequate room to construct
the sewer line between poles-and fence. In order to get away from existing utilities in which
slowed the contractor BGE recommends shifting the 8-inch sewer line into a 15 foot easement
along the North ROW. This would require obtaining 2 easements, replacing approx. 300 feet of
privacy fencing and adding additional manhole(s). Design services for the additional sewer line
include:
• SUE investigation of revised alignment
• Topo.survey of revised alignment.
• Survey documentation for proposed Easements
0 Re-alignment of approx. 875 linear feet`of 8-inch sanitary sewer.
