Mr. Warren Donaldson, owner of all adjoining property, has requested the
vacation of the east 30 feet of West Beach Street from Maurice Street north
for a distance of 430.95 feet as shown on the attached map. The existing
80 feet of right-of-way on West Beach Street is wider than needed to serve
the area and the owner desires to use the excess right-of-way for new com-
mercial development.
Private utility companies and City departments have reviewed the request
and do not object to the proposed vacation, provided the portion to be
abandoned is reserved as an easement for existing telephone facilities.
The City Plan Commission has reviewed the proposed closing and recommends
adoption of an ordinance that has been prepared vacating the street as re-
quetted, subject to retaining it as an easement for existing telephone utili-
ties.
City Council action on the Plan Commission recommendation is requested.
