AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF AN
AVIATION ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF FORT
WORTH FOR THE GREATER FORT WORTH INTERNATIONAL
AIRPORT AND MEACHAM FIELD AIRPORT.
WHEREAS, it is deemed expedient and in the best interest of the City
of Fort Worth that an Aviation Advisory Board be created for the Greater Fort
Worth International Airport and Meacham Field Airport; NOW, THEREFORE,
Section 1.
There is hereby created a Board to be known as the Aviation Advisory
Board of the City of Fort Worth for all aviation facilities of the City of Fort
Worth.
Section 2.
This Board shall consist of five (5) members nominated by the Mayor
and confirmed by the City Council. The members of the Board shall have the
same qualifications as members of the City Council and the term of office of
each one shall be for two (2) years unless that tenure shall expire by reason
of death, resignation, inability to serve or by removal in the way and manner
provided in Section 3, Chapter XIX, of the City Charter, for removal of a member
of the Recreation Board. Any vacancy in the membership of the Board shall be
filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as the original appointment.
Section 3.
The purpose of this Board shall be to make careful surveys at reasonable
intervals of all of the property and facilities comprising the Greater Fort
Worth International Airport and Meacham Field Airport and to make such recom-
mendations to the City Council with respect to the operation, management and
conduct of the affairs of the two airports as may appear to the Board to be in
the best interest of the City to the end that the service and administration of
the said airports may be improved and more effectively meet the needs and re-
quirements of a very rapidly expanding population.
Section 4.
The Hoard shall elect its own chairman, vice-chairman and secretary
and adopt its own rules as to the time and place of its meetings.
Section 5.
The Advisory Hoard for Meacham Field Airport, heretofore selected in
accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 3156, shall constitute the
Aviation Advisory Board provided for in this ordinance, and the members thereof
shall continue in office until their terms expire or leave the service in ac-
cordance with the provisions of Section 2 of this ordinance.
Section 6.
Ordinance No. 3156 is hereby expressly repealed
Section 7.
This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect
from and after the date of its passage and it is so ordained.
