SECTION 1.
That Paragraph 1-5 of Ordinance No. 2978 be anc. the same hereby is
amended by adding the following definition.-
Repair - Repair or repairs as used in heatin7 or air conditionin-;
sections of this ordinance shall be deemed to refer exclusively to the
replacement of any combustion chamber, the disra.ntling and. reassembling of
any vented gas, oil, or coal fired. heating appliance-, and_ equipment and
shall relate to no otke r repairs of any !find or character.
SECTIOAT 2.
Paragraph 6-1 of Ordinance No. 2978 be and the same is hereby amended.
so as to read as follows:
Paragraph 6-1. PLUMBIITC- PEPMITS.
A plumbing permit shall be obtained from the Plumbin.- Inspector or his
aut]!orized representative before any plumbing work is done in the City of
Fort "north by any person, and outsiie the city, if the Dlumbing system is
connected or is to be connected to either the city crater or sewerage systems.
A plumbing permit for a sanitary sever connection hill not be issued to any
person who is not a licensed and bonded Master Plumber.
Each time a Master Plumber desires to o..)en an excavation in a Duhlic street
or alley to make n connection frith the city sewerage system, or to alter or re-
pair any building sever connection, or for any other reason, said. ;,aster Plumber
shall obtain a written description or sketch Florin, the approximate location of
the sanitary sewer film the City Sanitary Sewer Department and shall then me'_ce
airlication to the Plumbins Inspector or his authorize& representative and ob-
tain a permit to onen an excavation in such stre-t or alley.
The cork of permanently repevin, and. permanently resurfacing the
excavation in such ca. street or alley will be done by the City.

Paragraph 6-2 of Ordinance No. 2978 be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Paragraph 6.2. PM. MTS ABD BONDS.
No Faster ]�lumbei shall engage in, carry on or work at the business of
plumbing and no Heating and Air Conditioning Contractor or other appliance
dealer shall install, alter or repair any heating systems, air conditioning
systems or other appliances unless he has on file i-dth the City a surety
bond as required below.
Prior to the issuance of any permit to a Piaster Plumber for any purpose
for -hich a permit is required or to any appliance dealer desiring to install,
alter or repair any heating systems, air conditioning systems or otly r appli-
ances, each applicant for a permit shall have on file with the Plumbic;
Inspector a good and sufficient surety bond- payable to the City of tort `Forth
in the sum of t5,000, and said. rurety company %hall be duly ant' legally author--
ized to do business in the City of Port llort': and be acceptable to the City
Council of the City of Fort '9orth. Said. bond shall be for the use and- benefit
of the City of Fort 1-orth and for the use and benefit of any person baving c
cause of action arising out of the plumbing Mork done by reason of failure to
comply with the plumbin._P code of the City of Fort `north by said -principal or
any of his employees, agents or subcontractors. Said bond shall fully indemnify
and eave whole and. harmless the City of Fort Worth from all costs or damages
arising out of any real or asserted claim or cause of action against it and
from any and all costs or damages arising out of any wrongs or injuries for
damages, either real or asserted, claimed against it that may be occasioned
by negligence or fault of the principal of said bond., his agents, servants or
employees, by reason of the worlt done under aut',orization of a permit issued
to the principal of said bond. S^id bond shall be furtIr r conditioned that
the liability of the surety under said bond shall cease ant. terminate of its
o+m force axd effect one year from the date of e;:ecution, savinx; and excepting —
for expenses, losses, claims for drmcges, jut:- ments, or other costs i,!hich may
arise or be incurred or sustained by any citizen of the City of Fort Worth
against principal by reason of failure to comply with the provisions of the
plumbing code of said City of Fort '"orth.
SECTIaz 4.
That Paragraph 6-8 of Ordinance No. 297E be and the same is hereby
amended. by adding the following:
A rough-in inspection shall be made of all heating and cooling duct work,
vents and all crater and waste lines that are to bP covered with inoulation or
concealed by building construction and the installation approved prior to
its being covered.
SECTION 5.
That Paragraph 13-4 of Ordinance No. 2978 be and the same is hereby amended
so as to read as follows
Paragraph 13-4. APPLIANCE AND EQUIPMErIT Y•NTS

heating units, recessed mall heaters, heating boilers, duct furnaces, attic
furnaces, below the floor heating- units, crater heaters, and. any AGA appliance

be constructed in accordance with the Fuilding Code Standards-of NDrU for either

approvals by Un?,entriters' Laboratories, Inc. namely:

water supply is shut off. The steam exhaust from a pressing machine or
any other a'pvaratus that has a steam exhaust shall discharge into a suitable
receiver that has been vented above the building and is trapped. anc• wasted
inr'irectly to an open fixture or floor drain that is trapped ane. vented as
provided herein. The steam exhaust from a. number of presses or machines
may discharge into a header or manifold before entering this receiver.

LIABILITY FOR DA'AGr5
This ordinance shall not be construed to affect the responsibility or
liability of any pasty owning, oner4.ting, controlling, or installing any
plumbing for damages to persons or property caused by any defect in such
Plumbing or in the installation thereof, nor shall either any Plumbing
Inspector or the City of Fort Borth, Texas, be held as assuming any liability by
reason of the inspection or reinspection autAorized herein or the final
inspection certificate issued as herein proviPed or by reason of the wry�roval
or disapproval of any equipment aut!-orized herein.
SECTIOit 8.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in Conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
S-CTIO'J 9.
PARTIiL Iiyno-STITUTIO'i-LITY
If arjy section or any part of this Act shall be held to be invalid such
invFlicl.ity shall not affect the remaining portions thereof; it bean;-, the
express intention of the City Council to enact such Act without respect to
sucli section or pert so help to be invalid.
