AN ORDINANCE ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION OF THE
QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS
ON FRIDAY, THE THIRD DAY OF DECEMBER, A. D. 1937,
FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING TWO COUNCILMEN TO FILL
PLACES TWO AND THREE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PRO-
VISIONS OF SECTION ONE, CHAPTER XX OF THE CHARTER
OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT 'NORTH:
SECTION I.
That in compliance with the provisions of Section One,
Chapter XX of the Charter of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and in
accordance with the laws and .Constitution of the State of Texas, a
special election be and the same is hereby called and ordered for
Friday the 3rd day of December, A. D. 1937, at which election all
qualified voters may vote for the purpose of electing a "bars of Lice
City Council for places number two and three.
SECTION II.
That the City Secretary of said city shall prepare ballots
to be used in said election and shall stamp same "Official Ballot",
on which ballot shall be printed the names of the present incumbents
and such other candidates for the position of councilmen, places
number two and three as may be nominated for those places as hereinafter
provided.
SECTION III.
That no person+s name except the present incumbents of the
offices to be filled shall be placed upon the official ballot as a
candidate for the position of a member of the City Council unless the
name of such person has been presented to the City Secretary-Treasurer
not less than thirty (30) days prior to the date of said election
by a petition signed by three hundred or more qualified voters of
said city, in ink or indelible pencil, together with the business or
home address of each person signing such petition and it must also
appear on the face of said petition the number of the place that the
said candidate is seeking and that the said petition has been sep-
arately circulated.
SECTION IV.
That it shall further.appear to the said City Secretary
before said candidatets name is entered on said ballot that such
candidate has filed with the said City Secretary a written acceptance
of his nomination not less than twenty days before the date of said
election.
SECTION V.
That in the event that there are two or more candidates
for the same position and place as a Member of the City Council,
the position of such candidates' names on the ballot shall be de-
termined by placing them on such ballot in the alphabetical order
of their surname.
SECTION VI.
That each voter shall vote for his choice candidate
for each place as Member of the City Council by striking from the
ballot the names of all the candidates for which he does not wish
to vote and shall vote for one candidate only for each place.
SECTION VII.
That the polls shall be kept open from seven o'clock
a. m. , until seven o'clock p. m. , and that due return be made to
the City Council showing the number of votes cast for and the
number of votes cast against each candidate for each of the posi-
tions of City Councilman respectively.
SECTION VIII.
That this ordinance signed by the City Secretary shall
constitute the proclamation of the City Council calling and ordering
said election and that such notice shall be published and posted
in each voting precinct in the City of Fort Worth, as required by
law, and that the City Secretary is hereby directed to post or
cause to be posted at least thirty days before said election in
each voting precinct a notice stating the time of holding this
election and offices to be filled and which said notice shall be
signed by the City Secretary.

SECTION X.
That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
and effect from and after the date of its passage.
