During planning and construction of the roadway parallel to State Highway No. v •
183, between the Handley-Ederville Road and the Bedford-Euless Road, the name
"Northeast Industrial Thoroughfare" was generally used but not officially
adopted. The western portion of this road was constructed over an old gravel
road, named Gifford-Hill Road, but the remainder was constructed through -open
territory. A map showing the roadway alignment is attached to this communica-
tion.
The road is completed and has been accepted by the City Council. The Traffic
Engineer and State Highway Department, are now in the process of obtaining
permanent signs for the roadway and have requested that the roadway be officially
named.
The proposed name of "Trinity Boulevard" has been reviewed and approved by
affected City departments, and the U. S. Post Office and there are no objections
to the new roadway designation. Two other short street segments in the City
with the name of "Trinity" are under review in cooperation with adjacent property
owners for possible name changes in the near future. Trinity Avenue is a three
block north-south street which intersects the 3500 Block of West Vickery Blvd.
Trinity Street extends in a westerly direction from North Main Street for a
distance of approximately one block. The Public Works Department is now contact-
ing the owners of property adjacent to Trinity Avenue and Trinity Street to de-
termine what change in name would be suitable. Neither of the present Trinity
Streets is being used as a post office address.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the street now known as "Northeast Industrial Thoroughfare
including that portion of Gifford-Hill Road which was .incorporated into the
Northeast Industrial Thoroughfare be named "Trinity Boulevard."
